There are certain sets/authors I collect so I'll still buy a book in "analogue" format if the need/mood strikes. Actually made a point of doing just that over the holidays.

I can't speak for anyone else, but in my case I sometimes want a physical memento of a much loved book or series. That's why, as I mentioned in my previous post, I purchased Ghost Story (Dresden Files #13) in hardcover. While I'd love to have the entire series in beautiful Roc hardcovers on my shelf, I really can't justify it, so I'm content to have just the one, which is the one released this past year when I started reading the series. Sometimes a book is more than the text between the covers (or in the ebook file). I don't feel that way about many books, though.

I just bought "Catching Fire" in print the other day. It was only $1.xx more than the Kindle version and the other half wants to read someday and hasn't converted to ebooks. For me, if the book isn't too thick and comes in close in price to the e-book, I'll do the print. No licensing BS to contend with there!

I hate one aspect of conversion to ebook readers: dt books were perfect and inexpensive gifts. I still buy them, when I am certain that the recipient has not switched to ebook readers.

I had the paper books first. I got an e-version when I wanted to re-read some of my very favorites. Since they are my favorites, they will be the last to go if/when I ever get around to clearing out some of my old books.

I do not plan on buying any more paper books, ever. But I also can't rule out an impulsive purchase at a used bookstore now and then. Sigh.

but they are fire hazard! Image if there's a fire, if you have all your books stored on your reader or USB drive. you just have to save your USB drive. But you can save your paper books, and they make your house fire burn more ferociously so the firefighters won't appreciate your book collection.

i do the same thing sometimes, if i really like something i want a copy on the shelf to show anyone who comes over "hey, this is what i'm about". it says that i enjoyed it enough to give it space in my home and becomes a treasured item rather than unseen code sitting on a gadget somewhere. the same way i hang pictures on the wall, i want to be able to look at the things i love and enjoy.

It depends on the book. If it's not available in ebook, when I want to read it, then yes I will buy the DTB. Also books from series I already own, will need to be eventually bought to complete the collection on my bookshelves.

It's a personal preference. I own hard cover & paperback versions of some books, which I have since purchased as ebooks. Some of these the DTB's are signed copies, which I do not wish to ruin by re-reading, especially if it's gonna be stuffed into a bag. Other books are ones I just really wanted to read again & it made perfect sense to me to do so in ebook form.

Interesting Read

I recently found this article which is very interesting for those who are in this thread on ebooks vs paperbacks. If you are searching for a bargain deal for goods I would suggest this website.

Because it's there physically, which allows me to access it easily, and display it, and loan it to others.

Also, because I read the book on my Palm Pilot, and when my last Palm devices die, that particular electronic version will be unreadable on my Nook. Plus, a Palm screen is not nearly as readable as a printed book.

I could download it in ePub format and keep it on my Nook, but in practice I think I'd rather not try to keep hundreds or thousands of books on the Nook, just because of the difficulty of sorting through them all to find what I want.

I am more and more drawn to reading on the Nook versus print, however. The Nook STR is as readable, it's easier to turn pages, and it never loses its place.

I just bought The Cat Who Knew Shakespeare in paperback, but only because I had to. It's apparently the only book in the series that isn't available in as an ebook. I'm not sure how my wife and I will manage reading it at the same time.

I can't imagine why I would. I picked up a paperback in my apartment a few months ago and my first thought was that I needed to enlarge the fonts a bit.

I have not purchased a dtb since I first got my ereader, and won't, unless I also chop and scan. I loved having to get rid of a bookcase I no longer need. Reducing clutter is a perk I had not thought of at first.

I wouldn't buy another NOVEL in a physical format unless is wasn't available in an ebook format, with the possible exception of carboot sales of old rare books and so on.

As to other books, like game books such as for Roleplaying games, comics etc.. I will still buy physical format books.
