Interesting. I have not experienced the bright display problems with ScreenDim posted here. Maybe I've just jinxed myself.

I hadn't either till last night. I was playing Angry Birds and it happened.

Hi, I just installed the trial version from the app store yesterday... had a late night scare that got me reading on the fire this late/early... configured 2 settings for myself then was web browsing when it blinded me for about 10 seconds. I didn't think to start counting right away. I know time can seem longer than it really is if measured so cant really tell you if its the 5-second or the 7-second issue that was posted here. I can say it had nothing to do with timeout prior to screen sleep mode because I was typing in a url actively when it happened.

I forget where/how to download the logging app you provided to others. Can you post a link to it here or do I need to email you for it? You could also pm me with it if that's easy.

Michelle, the link to the log collector is on page 6 of this thread. The latest beta is on page 7.

Pruss, still no brightening here! The new beta is still working perfectly.

1.05 has been uploaded to Market and Appstore. An extended 10-day trial is available here (it still says "3 days", tho').

The Appstore is still displaying v1.04 dated Dec. 21, 2011. No update for me.

Yup. It's going to do that for a week at least. That's the price of dealing with a market that actually tests all the apps as well as their updates.

That's why I put up a 10-day apk download.

Thanks for that. I always purchase from the Android Market but tried the Appstore this time. That'll teach me...

You certainly won't need to buy it again. I just don't know how exactly it works with cloud storage, because I haven't done much with the cloud storage. Probably, when you go to the Appstore it will have an "update" button showing on the app or something like that.

One of the nice things about both the Market and the Appstore, as opposed to the way apps got marketed for Palm devices in the past, is that updates are always free.

Just to say thanks for a really useful app. (I'm using it on a Nook Color rather than a Fire.)
It would be useful to be able to configure a minimal allowed brightness level (unless I've missed a setting somewhere).
Anything below 1.6 results in a completely black screen, so I'd rather be able to configure it so that fat fingers can't cause that.
