Rotate reader occasionally causes the screen to go black or 1/2 black and it crashed today.

That seems to match my experience today. Hibernate definitely works as a zero power state for the PE. However, not so on the EE where it says "Hibernating" but has the same power drain as the old "Sleep" mode. Anyone seeing anything different on their EE?

I wonder why they added Froyo Mail and left EMail too?

I've had a horrible experience with hibernate on my EE since the upgrade. I can hibernate once and it is fine but if I hibernate twice I cannot come out of hibernation. I have to pull the battery and reboot

I upgraded last night late. The install went well and most of the apps I use regularly worked well. There were 2 I had to clear the data on to get them to work. Amazon app store worked well too. Started it up at 9 this morning and let hibernate even as I am writing this on my laptop. I woke up at several intervals: 9:40, 11:20, 2:00, 3:20, and the last time at 7 PM. The last looked to be a reboot, but no lock ups so far. Opera Mini 6 works, browser crashes, but I have to check the settings for it and I couldn't find it in settings>applications to clear the data. The system is speedier, and more responsive. I like the double tap to magnify the page. I haven't setup e-mail yet. I noticed on the last wake up which appeared to be a reboot, the reader screen bottom third was of a darker shade. I just went to see if a reboot would clear it up, but the wake up call did it for me. I have not used the reader at all today, it has been an errand day for us. Checking the battery status shows 60% left. Not bad, wifi was on, I just closed the covers. I did as Cheyennedonna suggested and left the lcd on when closing it up.

Regards,

Micheal

Hi everyone. Posted this over in General Discussions/Ermine thread. Putting it here to as well;

Updated to the Ermine beta and have had no major issues. My Pocket Edge seems snappier in opening and switching apps. Display seems sharper, icons cleaner. I've accessed the Amazon market and downloaded and installed several apps (no games, sorry, just productivity/business oriented) and all installed and work well. Hope this input helps.

Personally, I'm glad Entourage made this last (?) effort for the users. Unless there is a major problem lurking, I'd be happy to go forward with this beta and live with the minor issues in exchange for the added (at least I percieve as added) functionality.

My EE has been hibernating just fine. I've called it up from hibernation 4 times and haven't had to reboot or yank the battery. I've had it unplugged since about 1 pm and it's at 75%. Although I. Seem to have just jinxed myself and have to yank the battery

I upgraded my EE earlier today. So far, it's a worthwhile upgrade. A few app shortcuts disappeared from my home screen but otherwise it went fine. My Library was still intact, pdf's opened fine in the Reader and looked fine, email still worked, apps all worked, etc.

I downloaded several apps from the Amazon Appstore without issue and all of the apps ran perfectly. Well, the games ran but at about 1 fps I remember Robot saying that either the EE doesn't have a GPU or it wasn't enabled and it shows. A few more positives:
* Apps open faster
* Opera browser now works and I can sync my bookmarks, etc. with my laptop and desktop
* PPTP VPN now works - I never could get it to work with my router before Ermine
* Twonky has a free app so I can stream music from my DLNA server. It also turns the eDGe into a DLNA server to stream to other devices

Menu animations and scrolling seem about the same speed - still not smooth. This is probably due to lack of GPU though. I haven't tried hibernating yet.

The only issue I found had to do with color rendering, which only occurred in apps. All of the colors on the homescreen are fine. For example the red "O" in the Opera icon is the correct red color on the homescreen. However, after opening Opera the "O" on the menu bar, which is supposed to be red, is colored blue. This is also true of the web pages displayed. All the reds are blue. I also installed the game FlightControl (don't bother - it runs even slower than Angry Birds) and it also exhibits an overall blue cast. Anyone else seeing this?

After owning my EE for a year it's finally becoming the powerful tool I was hoping for with this update and the Amazon Appstore. I think the EE really was ahead of its time. It will be a shame if enTourage doesn't stick around.

I did that too (on your suggestion) and it works fine. But the FroyoMail also works fine and has a feature with little back and forwardarrows. You can scroll trough next and privious mail without opening them one at the time.

Just to add: it's a pretty handy searchtool. It searches, by choise: web, Apps, library, Contacts and All.

Especially I like the librarysearch. It was sometimes difficult to find something. Now it's a peace of cake.

My experiences so far:

Pro
-5 screens
-better email with FroyoEmail, but Maildroid is also good
-Flash in browser works (not always though)
-Reader landscape (allthough for me to the wrong side. I often want to use the eDGe like a laptop: ereader up and tablet on table.)
-switch fonts on ereader
-New app: Dev tools: nice feature, but do not understand them all yet. But I'll give it time.
-New app: Spare parts: nice feature, specially the battery history and battery information
-New app: Search. Very cool, specially for searching library
-Start up is faster
-Wake up is fast

Con
-Apps not to SD
-Internal storage 3GB lost when library is moved to SD
-Native Browser often closes (Dolphin also)
-Calender still has no text visible when in month-mode (like Jorte has)
-Widget Power Control, which was very nice and handy in Dingo, now is big, black and ugly.
-Battery still looses lots of energy in hybernation-mode
-Tabulationkey on keyboard appeared one time. I don't remember when, but not in Excel where it would be usefull.
-eDGe sometimes is frozen (Froyozen?)

Still happy with the EE and so far with Ermine

Does it work in the configuration you want if you select the display setting that puts the tablet on the left and the reader on the right?

Well, I only got to updating it today (needed the device yesterday) and no luck for me: the (Pocket) Edge got stuck at boot time (initiates reboot right in the middle of it) and I could not get it out of it (no reset helped). So I reverted back to Dingo 1.11 with the golden update and tried again (I can be persistent). But no betterluck
So: ERMINE does not work at all (in my case)
on the positive side, reverting is no problem :S

I think that makes no difference. The top of the readerpage will always be at the inside (speakerside) of the eDGe. It would have been nice to have the same rotate-options as on the tabletside. Everyone would be happy.

I let my edge hibernate over night (something I never did with dingo), and it locked up when I tried to take it out of hibernation. In addition, my battery went from ~87% to ~23%. I still don't know what is causing the lockups.
