Which books would you prefer to start with?

Read the books Timothy Zahn wrote. Don't read any of the others and you'll be good to go.

Zahn Trilogy to start, then you can go where ever you want....but you will miss things in some books.

I enjoyed all of the star wars books, especially the Young Jedi Knights books....loved how they started as very minor characters and how they developed them all and are now playing major parts in the books. I really don't care about the main players anymore, it's all about the Young Jedi Knights now Adult Jedi Knights LOL.

That pretty much describes my problem with the newer generation(s) of novels. I miss the focus on Luke, Han and Leia. I honestly cannot get myself to care about Ben's raging hormones whenever he sees Vestara.

But as long as Luke and co. haven't been killed off and still make appearance, I guess I'll stick with it. I'm too curious, I must know what happens to them!

I really want them to make another giant move soon and kill off a major character in the movies...THAT would be awesome. I think it would be interesting if Leia bit the dust, the ramifications from Han and Luke would just be awesome if done right...kind of like Hans drunken despression in the books following Vector Prime x1000

I don't think the authors are allowed to kill anyone that appeared in the movies. Apparently the death in Vector Prime had to go through Lucas himself.

Well, the recent Star Wars books are shark jumping worthy.

Well, thanks to my public library I now have the X-Wing books and I, Jedi waiting to be read (re-read) right now.

I was surprised to see each book is 4+ MB in file size, no doubt due to the eight excerpts in the back of the book I checked each with a full size cover to start them out and also due to the embedded fonts.

I'd love to get the Thrawn trilogy, but the first isn't out til September. Boo. I'll have to start with the X-Wing novels. So much awesome. Debating between googlebooks and B&N official, unless I find them without DRM elsewhere.

Edit: 'Cept I don't see them on Googlebooks yet. Boo. I have patience. I already have them all...
