[Metadata Source Plugin] Barnes & Noble - Page 8

I decided to take at crack at getting this plugin working again. The B&N website seems to have been significantly reformatted so quite a few changes were need. It was more work than I expected.

A patched version is attached to this post in case anyone want to try it. I have bumped the version number to 1.2.13.

I have tested it on a number of books and it seems to work for me, but there certainly could be cases that I missed.

I tested this updated plugin on a number of books over the last two days, and it appearers to be working very well.
Wait a couple of more days then PM Kovid.

From a relative beginner on loading (or re-loading, as the case may be) plug-ins....It works! I added several new books (from this weekend) plus went back and got covers for books left cover-less over the last month or so. I don't claim to be an expert tester, but, if it was obvious to trip over, I would have.

I get quite I lot of instances when using batch cover downloading where it downloads a 300x150 image that says
Error
Source: Unable to acquire image.

I usually choose B&N as my #2 preferred cover source when doing batch cover downloads as the quality is usually higher.
Is there some way to tell calibre NOT to choose that 300x150 ERROR image and just skip it? Or basically to skip any B&N images for the covers that are EXACTLY 300x150 as that is guranteed to be the error image? Basically return that calibre could not find it so it skips the B&N and moves to the next preference?

I would also like to point out that is the ONLY cover source that does that (downloading an error image).

The following bug was reported on the calibre bugtracker, so copying it here:

For the past month or two, when i do a download metadata and covers (option download both), the suggested metadata and covers on the left (during review) includes the author name DUPLICATED in the name field for roughly 1/3 to 1/2 of the entries in the batch. The correct name is shown with appropriate case and then the entire name is repeated and concatenated onto the end of the last name.

It was apparently narrowed down to this plugin (by disabling all the other metadata sources).

can confirm this plugin appears broken with duplicate author names appearing in more than half of a batch of 500, got used to clicking before the repeat of the first name and deleting everything that followed (as included more authors if applicable).....unticking this plugin for another similar sized batch produced no duplicate authors, so assume this plugin efficient for covers only, sorry

I have attached an update to the B&N plugin that should fix the corrupted/duplicated author name problem. It appears to work for me, but could use further testing.

I bumped the version number to 1.2.14.

many thanks to jhowell....manually installed the version 14 and appears to have fixed the issue, get those Barnes and Noble covers without the doubled up authors - thanks again
