I remember once trying to read Weathering Heights online, but my eyes kept hurting me or they'd become blurry, so I had to abandon that and use the paper version. Right now I'm thinking about getting either an Ipad or a tablet, but I'm still undecided about it. At least with this forum I can make an informed decision before I delve into anything financially too.

And Amazon has a very reasonable return policy on Kindles.

Wow someone clearly has time on their hands to research and try find out how come someone came to my defense. Just because someone defends me, doesn't mean we have a connection.

Not much "research" involved-- before I asked my question a day or two ago, I clicked on your user name, chose "view public profile" to see if there was any data entered, saw that Quexos was listed as your friend, clicked on his profile, saw the messages back and forth. Took a few seconds. (I looked in the first place because I was wondering if you might be a new name for a recurring sockpuppet, but decided that you weren't.)

On second thought I shouldn't have defended love.forever. She never defended me or even thanked me for it and it only brought confusion to the thread. It's everyone for themselves in this world.
As far as I'm concerned you don't need to apologize either GeoffC, and You were correct and relevant to ask what is love.forever doing here, after all she does not have an e-reader and this is an e-reader loving community. I wish the moderators would de-activate her account, she has no business around here. |

My mother bought an ipad some time ago and she tells me the troubble with it is that its too big and akward for reading novels for any length of time on them, due to the physical size of the unit. I have heard a lot of people liking the tablets for reading electronic books and they seem to me to be sitting on the fence about using them in the future. I have also spoken to a lot of owners of different brands electronic readers and I own one myself as well, a Aluratek Libra Pro but I primarily use my company provided Blackberry Storm.
I do have some advice that I ahve put together after talking to the owners of many different products and I owuld advise you to buy a tablet PC if you can see yourself using the tablet for multiple functions outside reading electronic books. Owners of tablets that I have spoken to tell me that the tablet is good for electronic reading but where it really shines is the ability to read a book and work with other software on one device. Owners of tablets have told me if all you want to do is read books these things are a waste of dollars. I had one pal that owned a Craig tablet and an ipad both and he tells me that he likes the Criag quite a bit better than the ipad. Sicne the ipad cost seven times what the craig did he expected seven times the value from the ipad and did not feel it really delivered seven times the value that the craig did. "Two times" he said "but not seven times." As far as the dedicated readers go it has been my premise for sometime that there is no one best reader for everyone and it really depends on what is most important to you. I bought the Libra Pro becuase at the time it was the only reader available that would sell for $100 or below, I simply did not see readers as worth more than that. Kobos are great if you want simplicity of operation, they have one button that does all of everything on the reader. And they are the cheapest available these days besides the ones on the smart phones. I use my office's blackberry storm these days becuase I haev a tendency to loose things and since I can combine all of the functions into one device there is less to loose and less weight to carry around. A Kindle is great for those that can see them having a huge electronic book library, its got a search function, or like the ability to put your name in the device and customize it to your liking. A Sony PRS are great if you want the on board dictionaries available at the tap of the screen. Can yout see yourself looking at diagrams and illustrations in books, the bookeen is really great for that job. |

I was glad that you defended me and you know that I do thank you for it.
Even though it is an e-reader community, not everyone has an e-reader, there are those that are interested in getting one, but aren't sure exactly which one to get. I'm thinking about getting one, but financially I need to make sure I pick the right one, that's why I've been floating around here... Being curious isn't a crime last time I checked ![]() Quote:
