I am planning to get a Sony tomorrow, just dont know if I can throw in an iPad as well.

Guess I go on Kraft Dinner for awhile (but having loads of fun!)

I have both the iPad2 and the PRS-350, and I love the combination. The iPad is a bit too big to take with me when I'm doing errands and such, and I enjoy reading novels more on the 350 anyway, so the Pocket reader is the one I use when out of the house, and I use the iPad at home for PDFs and comics. If you can afford both, I say go for it.

Okay, here's the scenario. My wife is going in for knee surgery next month and will be in the hospital for 5 days. She wants to load up tunes on my iTouch for while she is there. I'm thinking this will be the best window of opportunity to get an iPad2 since I have to go so long without the iTouch. I haven't research them yet. Are they basically an iTouch on steroids or do they have additional functions? Also, is an Android the same as an iPad?

I strongly recommend you to open a different thread so you can get faster and better responses.

But no, Android is not as same as iPad. Actually, Android is an operating system and not a device. iOs (runs on iPad)s and Android operating system (runs on Android Tablets) are different, main difference relies on applications and multitasking.

iPad are very similar to iTouch in the way they work and the Operating System they run. If you own an iTouch you will feel comfortable using an iPad.

I did some research on this today and checked out devices on CNET. There really aren't any comparable to the iPad2 currently, but it looks like several are in the works. But they still have to play catch up to iPad.

Got the iPad2, bit more than I wanted cuz 64 gb was the last one they had, so wait a bit with the Sony pocket reader. So far I really love reading magazines on it! You're right, iPad is a bit heavy and big. Sony prs350 is still welcome!

Well certainly the Xoom is comparable and even better depending on your specific requirements.

I would not say that

And I am aware you own a Xoom. But with a small and starting market for Honeycomb, SD card no working, 4G not working yet, I don't see how the Xoom, right now, can be better.

Jo, jo, jo, The ipad will never have an sd card, it is locked to iApple for any media, Xoom has higher resolution and better cameras....move providers for media and software.... etc. etc. etc...

As I said it depends on your requirements. Say whatever you want, doesn't make it true.

Right, and I don't need a SD card like most iPad users so that does not make the Xoom better. Actually the good thing about Xoom is the multitasking, filesystem and Os itself, instead of the hardware, at least for me.

I would reevaluate my thoughts in a year or so, but the Xoom has too many unfinished features that right now I would not say it's better than iPad.

I like it but it is not ready and barely have Honeycomb ready apps. That will take months to change or develop. The Xoom it's too heavy, more expensive and without enough apps at this moment to be considered perfect or better than iPad. A good market and lot of apps are the 50% or more of the device's value; we don't have that for Honeycomb yet.
