In my opinion, iPad 4 won't be iPad 4, it will be iCard 4/iPaper 4. It will be thin, can be rolled into a roll and weighs only 100 grams with 24+ hrs battery life. It will have lost the current interface it has (iOS used by smartphones) and will possess really usable interface. It will of course support flash natively. |

While the version number was optimistic, you could see the other stuff happening except for that flash thing which was clearly just added for comedic effect.

No! Android still seems to be fragile interface and will be highly attacked by malware. iOS has this advantage, the fenced garden protects us from bugs+malware. iOS is reliable for business, android has overtaken in terms of "Number of customers" but not in interface. I own android tablet, I am satisfied; but different hardware platforms make it difficult to add hardware -specific apps to tablets.
(Agreed we can use cheap technology to get our work done very nicely, but not reliably.) In short, ask yourself, if you have used android tablet: Is it something that you can gift someone? |

If you are talking about being reliable for business, that is unsettled in the tablet market at this point, but given their reputation and security accreditations in the phone market you would tend to think that a lot of businesses are going to take a serious look at the blackberry playbook ahead of both android tablets and ipads. |

I'd recommend/gift a Galaxy Tab to just about anyone interested in a fuss free 7" tablet. It's easy to use, easy to find appropriate apps, and I haven't used my Kindle in almost two months.

The TAB isn't bad, but much too expensive for a 7" device, in my opinion. And maybe it is just me, but I don't see where the 7" screen should fit in. The best phones have 4.3 to 5" screens already. And they fit into my pants' pockets very easily. 7" is a step up, but for books it doesn't make much of a difference. And for newspapers, magazines, etc. a 9-10" device is much much better. So a 7" doesn't offer real portability and it doesn't offer full functionality.

When the price point for SGT dropped to $399 off contract at COSTCO, I picked one up. Actually I picked up the last one that my local store had. I find it a perfect fit for me; as I normal wear dress slacks with fairly roomy pockets at work, the SGT fits nicely in my front pocket (after re-allocating some of my junk to another pocket). A 10” device just would not fit! Even though the processor is not a dual core, it’s still plenty speedy, and more than adequate for me. The only issue I have with the SGT is Sammy/VZW have not committed to a Honeycomb upgrade. I’ll be a little bummed if I stuck with Froyo/Gingerbread, maybe the boys over at XDA-Developers will come through. If so, it’ll be the first time I’ve even considered rooting. |
