I wear progressive lenses, so they are on my nose anyway!
Am thinking about stronger reading glasses because some of the PDF fonts are not changeable.... |

I have to wear my specs all the time now, not just the short arm syndrome, but each eye is different and I have astigmatism too.

Both, depending on the ambient lighting.

Initially I said I do not were my glasses. This was after only having my Kobo for a few days. I have settled in to using my glasses and setting font on the smallest size. For me this is the best combination at least when I read in bed.

I'm 57 (how did I get so ancient?!) and I wear my 1.25X drug store generic readers with my Sony PRS-505, and set the font to 9 points. That way I get a decent amount of words on the page and am still able to read the print comfortably.

Glasses are for old people :-)
I don't have glasses. I refuse to wear them, mostly as nose-thumbing gesture to all those folk (you reading this, Mother?) who nagged me unceasingly in my youth that all the low-light reading I did was going to ruin my eyesight. In my youth my eyesight was significantly above average (13-13), and has serverd me well throughout my life. One of my long-standing promises to self was to be able to brag in my old age that I didn't need glasses until I was fifty.
And now with that milestone about to come crashing down on my head (egads - I'm OLD!), it's a tossup whether my determination or my eyesight will give out first. About a year ago I began carrying a magnifying glass around with me. I told myself it was just to read maps, but I've caught myself pulling it out more frequently for pbooks as well. With my ereader, however, I can just enlarge the fonts and all is well. --Nathanael |

I don't need reading glasses, per se, but I'm nearsighted enough that without my glasses I can't see things unless they're right in front of my nose. I do find that reading with glasses on gives me a headache sometimes, so then I take them off and hold the reader up close to my face.
I tried changing the fonts to compensate, but with a larger font there were so few words on the page. I spent a lot more time making page turns, which was frustrating. |

I'm thinking of doing that. Then I can set the font size to XS and read comfortably.

Since my cataract surgery I wear reading glasses for reading, and everything else requiring close in vision. The up side is that after over 40 years of requiring glasses for driving and just everyday getting around I no longer need them.

I'm with the, "No, because I can't stand the way they feel pm my face/nose/ears" group.
I have some I use for tiny things, like maps or some web sites, but reading my Kindle, I do ok with one of the 2 middle sizes, depending on light and eye fatigue. Another reason I avoid them is that my eye doc told me that using reading glasses would speed up my need for them, because our eyes' lenses get stiffer faster if we don't exercise them to focus on near stuff. I don't know how much that really matters, or if it's cheating by using a big font, but I figure it's as good an excuse as any. ![]() |

I wish I could not wear glasses, but I've had poor eyesight since I was a child, even though I refused to actually wear glasses until middle school because I was too cool, lol. I have long-wear contact lenses so I don't even really think about them, just take 'em out once every week or so for a few hours and can usually get a good 3 months out of a pair despite them being 30 day lenses. I only have to adjust the font size if the ebook itself has some ridiculously small font-size already.

I have to wear my glasses to even find the reader.
![]() Even with strong reading glasses I can't read many pocket paper books. With the reader I can either use my reading glasses and a medium font or my "general" glasses and a larger font. Sometimes I do it one way, other times the other. That is why I lover the reader! |

When the lighting is ok, I don't wear my reading glasses, but in subdued light, I do. I'd rather not go thru too much adjusting fonts, I have'em right where I want them!

My vision is not equally bad in each eye, my left eye is significantly worse than my right. If I have to read without my glasses I must close one eye and use a huge font.
So the answer is yes! I swear that my dreams would be clearer if I slept in my glasses. |

I wear glasses with my ereader when I read sitting in my comfy chair (since I wear them all day, anyway), but not when I'm lying in bed.
