I don't really know anyone yet like that. But I'll admit I have a strange fascination with the smell of a NEW book. Must be the glue. Lol. Kindle FTW.

I want to add that I've read more than ever with my kindle 3 & iPad. I like reference books in paper though I've also double dipped on those so I always have the ebook with me.

"I just like to use an abacus"
Some people just like to resist change, or fear it with every fiber of their being.

My uncle used to mock me for sitting in front of computers all day and using the internet (Back in 95). Then he had to get one for email/online banking. Now he uses it all the time.

It will take people time, and exposure to ereaders to get used to them. PCs have been mainstream for over 30 years, and many people still do not know how to do very basic things (find stuff online, print, use a keyboard/mouse). Cellphones are the same way. 95% of cellphone users don't know how to use the majority of functions on the phones. Even most of the people that THINK they know how to use their phones, don't even know most of what the phones can do.

So like I said, exposure. But then again. I never see people with kindles in public. And I never see them advertised on television. There are never billboards for them. They might be advertised in magazines (that would make the most sense, but I don't read magazines).

So I don't know how people will get exposure. I shop at amazon/newegg almost exclusively, so that's how I got exposure to their advertising. You can't go to amazon.com and not see stuff about the kindle.

I never missed the cover probably because I don't like the way they look on my shelves. It's also one of the reasons why I don't like paperbacks; they look too busy on my shelves. I have covered some of my paperbacks with simple construction paper so they have a more cohesive look.

Good analogy. Someone lent me the book that I'm reading now and as I was reading it, I realised I no longer enjoyed reading from a hard copy as much as from my readers. So, I d/l the ebook format and am enjoying it on my reader.

Needless to say, I love the stable horses that I already own, but I love the cars in my garage more.

It does? I was simply trying to point out that he/she may have lost sales by publicly announcing his/her lack of common ground with those who listen to Glen Beck and read bible stories.
I had a very similar experience on facebook when I found myself publicly disagreeing with a fan of my books over a silly political matter. I've decided to try and stay as neutral as possible as a result; at least in public areas where I might alienate prospective readers.

The advantages of having a ebook reader out weigh the disadvantages. I grew up in a age of reading physical books but the leap to e-book readers was seemless. I have had my sony PRS-505 since the lauch date (approx 4 or 5 years) and now I'm the owner of a K3 as of last week. Now my delima is that I find myself carrying both the Sony and Kindle to the office. So much for advantages.
