Smile 1 at work, 1 at Peet's

There is a woman at work who I've seen reading her Kindle 3 waiting for the elevator and outside grabbing a smoke.

I saw someone reading a Kindle (didn't know model numbers then) at my local Peet's some months back.

i saw a woman use hers on the train and 2 other people using sony e-readers. not sure of the version for kindle. i was supposing 2 since at the time people were just receiving their 3's and she couldn't have had it before me lol

i was using my kindle 3 on the train and this guy sits next to me. he looks at my kindle then takes out his ipad and practically shows it off to me. the only reason why i looked was because the light was reflecting off of the screen and i caught it from my side vision. i didn't care, i like my kindle, don't need an ipad to show off.

i was reading it on the bus and a child was reading off of me. i played trhis little game where i moved my kindle every couple seconds, his head moved too. at one point it was at a weird angle and the child's head was tipped oddly. i turned it off and he finally took his eyes off.

I think I see them at Airports more than anywhere else because at an airport, just about everyone carries a laptop bag or other bag that has room for a reader.
Both my K2 and my K3 fit in my purse, which is a fairly small "messenger" style bag. The bag is only slightly larger than my Daytimer organizer (so it's reasonably small). I have ongoing medical issues and I always bring my Kindle with me to my doctor's office. I had to go to the E.R. recently and I also brought it with me then.

I can imagine men would be less likely to carry them "in the wild" unless they have a laptop bag with them, but I don't see any reason why women wouldn't.

Edit: I've never seen an e-reader in public, nor an iPad. But, I'm rather shy in person and I tend to stay out of places with big crowds.

Seen Sony's, Kindle 2's, a couple Kobo's and iPads but I've yet to see a single K3. I have encountered a couple of people asking me if mine was the latest Kindle and if it was worth getting. I see more people reading on the iPod Touch and Blackberries than anything else.

I have been flying out of town quite a bit lately and mostly see ipads, a few Kindles, and one Nook. The ipad users, however, were not reading books, but playing games, etc. But I see more hardcover/pbs on planes. I think it is annoying to have to turn the readers off during takeoff and landing, so the paper version is an advantage.

I haven't seen anyone anywhere with their ebook readers out here in TN. Even when I went to B&N I didn't see anyone reading on their ebook reader, mostly they are reading the physical magazines and books at B&N. I feel like I'm the only one reading on an ebook reader when I'm out at the park or anywhere else.

I`m in Paris for the week; write this on my Kindle. Have been walking around in the center for a few days; didn`t see anyone ereading, though beautiful weather and lots of folks sitting on the lawns at the Tuileries. Happely browsing away (well; a bit slow). Took a bit of a risk, for me that is, by not taking one single paperbook (and that after three years of ereading) but have full confidence in Kindle. (and the fact that Paris has lots of bookstores).

NYC

I see eReaders on trains and buses and in Starbucks in NYC. Mostly, they're older Kindles or Sonys. I am starting to see iPads in the same places more and more. When someone uses an iPad, it sticks out because it's so big. I also just noticed a Kindle DX on the train the other day.

I rarely see them here in Belgium. I ride the train to work and in the past two years I think I've only seen three people with an ebook reader (all Sony).

The most Kindles I've seen at once were actually on the beach at Aruba. There were about 5 people every day that either had a K2 or DX with them while they relaxed under a palm tree. (This was before the release of K3.)

I do know 3 people that have now purchased an ebook reader after seeing mine. Most people however, still seem to prefer paper books.
