I do too, but it isn't as useful as it used to be. Amazon is quietly raising the price of WS deals. Things that used to be $1.99 are now $7.49.

I think that I can vouch for that.

I say "I think" because while I see more $7.49 audio narrations for ebooks, it seems like I am seeing less of the ("just"--I love that. ha) $12.49 audio narrations.

As I've mentioned before on this thread, for some reason it is getting more difficult, it seems, to find WS deals at what I consider a bargain price--say $3.99 or less. But, at the same time, I've quit trolling for fiction WS deals, and limited myself to non-fiction ones in the last 6 months or so. That may be the difference.

ADDENDUM: An example of what I mentioned in my second paragraph, that I just read: "Add Audible narration to your purchase for just $12.99".

No, being I do some 'geo-adjustment' I can buy books from Amazon/Audible UK.

I happened to be there to score the Poldark series at .99p/ea from Amazon, went to look for WhisperSync prices at Audible and saw it.

Canada is in a strange situation. I don't even pretend to know much of anything about it, though.

Technically, isn't Canada now completely independent of England, and not a part of the United Kingdom? However, doesn't Canada still consider the reigning king and queen of England to be over Canada, too (and, yet, in French-speaking Quebec, I doubt that there's much regard for the king and queen of England).

I never have read much at all about Canadian history, except where it pertained to the French & Indian War, and the American Revolutionary war, and that was pretty basic.

I wish that I was in B.C. now, and headed to Alaska again (my only trip was in the mid 1990's). A guy at the supermarket last night was in a particularly good mood, and I commented to him on it. He said that he was going to British Columbia tomorrow (which would be today), and that his wife was at home right then doing all of the packing. I would have liked to have killed him. ha

My recommendation: start in the interior of Alaska first, before you get on the ship for the rest of the way. Otherwise, the land portion at the end would be very, very, very anticlimactic.

Canada is a Commonwealth country. We speak English AND French at all levels and provinces (though not so much French in BC, and not so much English in Quebec), but both languages are official languages. When I became a citizen, I pledged allegiance to the Queen and her heirs and assigns, as she is our Queen as well. (Even in Quebec.) We have a Governor-General who is the Queen's representative in Canada. S/he is appointed by the Queen on the advice of the (Canadian) Prime Minister. Tenure is “at pleasure” and usually lasts five years, but this term may be extended.

OTOH, the UK has absolutely nothing to do with our legal process any more beyond the G-G signing all laws as the Queen's representative and reading the 'throne speech' in the Canadian Parliament to open the session. (Canadian equivalent to State of the Union in the US.)

My ability to buy books from Amazon/AudibleUK has absolutely nothing to do with my living in Canada. But everything to do with my having a UK Amazon account and a UK registered Paperwhite.

My primary Amazon and Audible accounts for eBooks and audio books are both US Amazon accounts. I also have a separate Amazon.ca account I use for eBooks that I can't easily get from Amazon US. (Not many, but a few.)

Great to know the information. But, to be honest with you, it was hard to absorb everything in the first paragraph in one reading. It sounds complicated. Maybe our ways in the U.S. are just as hard to grasp, but we've gotten used to them from living here.

Yeah, I knew that you weren't able to buy from the Amazon U.K. store because you were a Canadian.
