X-link to the DRM-free megathread, where there's a few items of sfnal interest on sale:

For 99 cents, you can get the anthology Across the Spectrum: Book View Café’s 5th Anniversary Celebration which collects about 2 dozen mostly science fiction/fantasy stories by assorted Book View Café members, which include quite a number of previously-published stories by established authors, some of whom are quite prominent in the genre.

They've also some other discount deals.

And Pan Macmillan Australia's Momentum imprint's 70% off CyberMonday sale is well underway, in case you've been enjoying those sporadic reprints of Australian sf/f 1st-in-series they've been giving us and wanted to pick up more.

IIRC, Momentum books are not couponable at Kobo (at least, not in Canada), so this is probably the best chance of a good discount unless they end up running $1 specials for anything you had your eye on.

The Fuller Memorandum, book 3 in Chalres Stross's Laundry Files series is currently £1.99 at Amazon UK and elsewhere. (Usually £5.99)

"Bob Howard is an IT specialist and field agent for the Laundry, the branch of Her Majesty's secret service that deals with occult threats.

Overworked and underpaid, Bob is used to his two jobs overflowing from a strict nine to five and, since his wife Mo has a very similar job description, he understands that work will sometimes follow her home, too. But when 'work' involves zombie assassins and minions of a mad god's cult, he realises things are spinning out of control."

First Light and The Trials, the first two books in Linda Nagata's near-future military SF trilogy The Red, are $1.99 at multiple retailers.
Quote:
Reality TV and advanced technology make for high drama in this political thriller that combines the military action of Zero Dark Thirty with the classic science fiction of The Forever War.

Lieutenant James Shelley, who has an uncanny knack for premeditating danger, leads a squad of advanced US Army military tasked with enforcing the peace around a conflict in sub-Saharan Africa. The squad members are linked wirelessly 24/7 to themselves and a central intelligence that guides them via drone relay--and unbeknownst to Shelley and his team, they are being recorded for a reality TV show.

When an airstrike almost destroys their outpost, a plot begins to unravel that's worthy of Crichton and Clancy's best. The conflict soon involves rogue defense contractors, corrupt US politicians, and homegrown terrorists who possess nuclear bombs. Soon Shelley must accept that the helpful warnings in his head could be AI. But what is the cost of serving its agenda?
I don't think that blurb really captures the appeal of these books. I don't read much mil-SF, but these are fast-paced and action-heavy without skimping on thoughtful extrapolation and speculation.

The Ghost of a Model T by Clifford D. Simak, volume 3 in Open Road's new series collecting Simak's short stories, is on sale today at Amazon US for $1.99 and other outlets as well, I imagine.

This volume includes the original magazine versions of stories that were later re-written and turned into the classic novel City.

That link isn't working for some reason, but this one works.

The Man Who Fell to Earth by Walter Tevis is now $1.99 in the Amazon US Kindle store.

Quote:
The basis for a feature film starring David Bowie in his first major role, The Man Who Fell to Earth tells the story of Thomas Jerome Newton, an alien disguised as a human who comes to Earth on a mission to save his people. Devastated by nuclear war, his home planet, Anthea, is no longer habitable. Newton lands in Kentucky and starts patenting Anthean technology, amassing the fortune he needs to build a spaceship that will bring the last 300 Anthean survivors to Earth.

This month's Phoenix Pick is Red Tide by Larry Niven et al.

Recommended price is $2.99, but you can change that to free.

Other offers this month include bundles with a collection by Niven, Limits, and a few Heinlein books. Since I have all of them already, I stuck to the free book.
