Koreader can't run on my kobo touch N905.
I updated fw to 3.3.0, installed fmon, Put the image into root folder,Extract the Koreader zip to .kobo. after kobo restart, i touch the image, it finished quickly, doesn't run Koreader.
I use koreader-nightly-20140524.
I don't know what's wrong with it.

It seems to be a problem with the fmon. It's part of KoboLaucher. You could try to install the latest Kobolaucher.

You might try tshring's "Kobo Start Menu" The latest version. The first post in the thread has install instructions (see upper right corner).

This gives me a suspend that is just a frozen screen that makes it so I can clean the screen or put my AuraHD in my pocket. I can check that it is working by poking where I would normally get a menu.

Sometimes, after along period of use I may have to restart Koreader for it to continue to work. Some others have tried this but they reported that it didn't work for them.

Ken,
I've noticed some peculiarities about the mod you made and nickel. In my experience if you launch koreader from nickel, it won't work (the mod that is). It seems like nickel is grabbing the interrupt. So if you leave koreader after trying to make it sleep, when you get back to nickel, it will go to sleep. This week I installed tsherings start menu and everything works like you would hope it would. FWIW, the sleep mode in coolreader behaves exactly the same way. If you launch from nickel it doesn't work, from tsherings menu it does.

I just switch from kindle pw to aura hd today,
and find out this is really frustrated.
I confirm the same behavior on Aura (non-HD) running 3.3.0.
So far the only solution is to exit cleanly and close the cover only when in Nickel.
CoolReader has pretty much the same problem, I read in the e-book (russian) forum that it works in 3.2.0? May be the bad Google translation
Another solution is to install a different launcher and DON'T LET NICKEL RUN. Tsherings menu by default will allow you to start nickel if you need it. That's how I'm running now and my Aura HD is everything I want a reader to be (almost). Koreader is the best pdf reader I've used yet. Pocketbook's was about the same but my PB died recently.

Ah... that could be a big part of the differing results, I have noticed that this suspend/sleep has been working very reliably since I started using the "Kobo Start Menu". It could be that it would also be working with the normal timings and the popup menu, if started from the start menu.

Thanks.

Luck;
Ken

Come to think of it, when I was launching Koreader using fmon, I killed more than just nickel. Perhaps that was another reason it worked for me but not some others.

After the Kobo software has added the .png file, you should be able to select the KOreader icon and one of two things will happen; 1) Koreader will start or 2) you will see the full page image displayed. If the full page image is what you get, then you will need to copy over the KoboRoot.tgz file from the koreader download, into the .kobo directory. It will remake the connection in fmon to launch koreader when the icon is selected. No need to reinstall the rest of koreader.

I am on linux, i don't have a software except calibre to manage my reader, and i didn't use it to copy the png to my kobo root folder, i just use simple file manager (pcmanfm) to copy it. And even i use calibre, it still does not show it in my library.

You need to put the png into the same directory that has the .kobo folder in it, not into the .kobo folder. ( in Linux any file or folder/directory that has a name that starts with a dot/period is treated as hidden.) Then you need to let your kobo device's software process the png file, it can't do that if the png file is in a hidden folder. Install guide, with notes explaining all this.

Ken

If it's running android, then the first builds are made! Won't be long until the first nightly for android is released.

Just checked: Arc 10Hd is running android 4.2 Jellybean!

Thanks Markismus...that's good news in terms of user experience. Should I dare dream about a way to sync books between devices (ie read alternatively on 2 or more devices while keeping track of progress - maybe styles too).
Why am I thinking I read something about that kind of feature?

Basically it would mean syncing the lua-files in the history folder. That could be done with Evernote judging from chrox response here.

Try opening an issue on github after they have the android backend running or look at chrox work on the Evernote plugin to work on it yourself.

For a reader to do it, the reader would send the history folder to the cloud, when exiting the reader. Then the reader would retrieve the history folder in the cloud and have it replace the one on the device, when the reader starts. This should work for the reader ( in this case KOreader) no mater which device KOreader is running on at the time.

Of course a dependable connection to the cloud would be needed, with WiFi most likely.

Luck;
Ken

Last build, koreader-nightly-20140601, don't run on Aura HD. It freezes in File manager screen. Maybe there is something wrong within new "input.lua" file.

Koreader is awesome. In fact, koreader is the reason reason that i have an Aura HD. Lots of thanks to developpers.
