The first and the last Monday in May are bank holidays in the UK. I don't know the reason behind it though. I read a few days ago that the UK has got the smallest number of bank holidays in the Western Europe. I think Canada got double amount. We are a hard working lot. Got to feed up ....many people

In fact, the UK isn't really that badly off, as in the rest of Europe, if a Bank Holiday falls at the weekend, it is not moved to a week day, as it is here. See Wiki extract below:

Quote:
The number of holidays in the UK is relatively small compared to that in many other European countries. However, direct comparison is inaccurate since the 'substitute day' scheme of deferment does not apply in most European countries, where holidays that coincide with a weekend (29% of fixed-date holidays) are 'lost'. In fact, the average number of non-weekend holidays in such countries is only marginally higher (and in some cases lower) than the UK.
Not sure why today is a holiday though. It's just known as the Spring Bank Holiday (to celebrate Spring - so it's raining today, of course...)

Oh, and it's coffee in my cup

I don't think we have bank holidays. It's just the banks who get a day off sometimes, so it's not a national holiday. But here in Belgium we do get a compensation day when a national/regional holiday is a weekendday. And we also get an extra day whenever a holiday falls on a tuesday (monday off as well) of thursday (friday off as well, which is the case this weekend).

It's a little 'complicated' here. There are the national holidays, then there are extra holidays for people who work for the government, and then we also have the regional holidays.

Water in my cup.

One wonders how you know if you actually have a day off or not....

And I certainly wouldn't be happy if the government workers have a day off, and the rest of us don't .

At my workplace they give us a list of all the holidays we have that year, and I just put them in my agenda right away. Otherwise I really would go to work on a national holiday

Yes, those government people have lots of advantages: more holidays, they are assured of a position for the rest of their career and have a great pension. Life isn't fair

A cup of Emperors Yunnan was delicious. It is at the top 5 of my tea favourites.

Since I found an online source for Wuyi Dark Rock, a cup of it is cooling down next to me. I have also noticed that The Chinese Tea Company has two Wuyi Dark Rock. One of them is 3x more expensive?
Anyway, I have no idea which one I have, maybe a third type but just a moment ago I was told that this tea is at the top 5 of my better half's best teas. She loved it! Now it makes two of us who love Wuyi Dark Rock roasted oolong

We are trying to find a tactic that will prevent the dogs from waking us up in the morning. We have tried telling them to go back to their beds. After the fourth time one of us gives up and takes the dogs out to play, normally at 6:45 AM. Today we decided to try ignoring the dogs.

This is easier said then done. Cooper is large enough that when he puts his paws on the bed and I am lying in the bed they end up on my breast or in the middle of my back. After ignoring that, Caya decided to put her paws on the bed. No biggie there, Caya's paws reach the edge of the bed. Both puppies got down and we heard some pawing about. Then we find Caya standing in between my Hubby and I in the bed licking his face.

Ignore didn't work.

We tried putting them in the hall way. After 20 minutes we had whining puppies at the bedroom door and a bit of barking.

At 6:45 I was up, taking the dogs out.

At least I got in some good reading.

Silly puppies.

A cup of Organic Pouchong oolong from Tea House Emporium, Bath.

It is another name for Bao Zhong oolong.
Not as good as Tea Smith's Baozhong oolong. I will make a few cups of each to make sure, but as far as I can say, it is not even close. Pouchong is a merely nice oolong.
