For those of you who 'travel' with your Kobo accounts, have you ever noticed your library totals vary according to your different locations?

i.e. Just purchased books on my Kobo account in Canada. When I sign into U.S. with that same account those purchases don't show [my library purchased tab doesn't show them].

I have noticed books disappearing while travelling, too. I was in Canada for some time and when I came back, two of my books disappeared from my Library, but not Purchase History.
They did not reappear when I went back to Canada, tho I had to ask CS to send me new links. Took them 2 months to send me DRM PDFs(!)

I have noticed this a few times, but originally didn't connect it with the fact that I'd been travelling until I saw a previous comment in this thread. What I have discovered is that even if the book is missing from the library, if I do a search on the Kobo app I can pull it up that way even if I'm not registered to the country of purchase. Little annoying, but it works for my purposes (I don't mind the app so much.)

Do you mean Kobo Desktop?

I've never really looked whether or not the ebooks are in My Library because I download them immediately after purchasing them. (Including kepubs)

I don't want to hijack the thread and apologise if this does happen. But it is worth repeating yet again. Everyone should be following your good example. "The Cloud" is essentially a marketing term. What it means for most of us is that our books, movies, music etc. are on someone else's servers. Few of us bother to read the terms of service, and in most cases would be horrified if we did. Yes, its convenient. So continue to use it. But at home you should have a computer running Calibre with Apprentice Alf's tools (assuming, of course, that use of Alf is not illegal in your location). Your Calibre database should contain a drm free copy of every ebook you have purchased. And you should also keep a backup of that database. And if you can't do this with books from a particular Vendor, don't buy from them.

Perhaps I am a little paranoid about this. But if you read through some of the old threads on this forum, you will find repeated instances where people have been in fear of losing access to the ebooks which they have paid for. Recently we've seen the example of Blinkbox Books (which appears to have ended well) and Barnes and Noble (who seem to have simply "toughed it out" and ignored the outcry).

By all means expect the best. But plan for the worst.

Darryl thank you for the reminder, but in the matter mentioned of not being able to find a book in My Library after travelling then it's the way we inform each other in this thread of what may or may not be changing at Kobo.

I seem to recall that not finding the book/s has occurred before, so maybe it's a glitch - or a change. Mmmmm .....
