Would you mind attaching the Helvetica font built-in to Kindle somewhere? I don't have the fonts hack, but I tried to check the backups folder in the archive and it was empty. I just want the font so that I can use it in fbKindle to make it easier for me to read with a more unified appearance. Thanks

Stupid copyright laws ^_^
Could you tell me where on my Kindle (I have USBNetwork) I can find the font then? UPDATE: Actually, I found it: /usr/java/lib/fonts Thanks. There really needs to be a way to delete posts though. Last edited by kranu; 11-23-2010 at 05:36 PM. |

@vidalpascual: No idea, it never really bothered me enough to find a way to tweak it

This is some achievement...
This is an epic thread, i'm going to add yet another string of silly questions to it:
1) If I were to install the screensaver hack, would I be able to keep some of the amazon default screensavers and delete others? 2) Can you label your own screensavers in a similar fashion to amazon? 2a) Would that require me to download the font hack? 3) How do you get the best results in creating your own screensavers and getting them to mimic the amazon ones? Thanks a whole bunch, seriously fantastic work. |

Yes, the original screen saver images are backed up in a folder on the Kindle. You can label your screen savers, but you'll need an image editor to do so. No, you wouldn't need the font hack for that. Getting the best results basically requires you to create images of the proper size (600x800 for Kindle 1/2/3 or 824x1200 for Kindle DX), converting the image to gray scale, then reducing the image to 16 shades of gray, possibly using dithering if there are gradient areas in the image. Then saving the image with the least amount of compression to avoid artifacting. This can be accomplished by using the PNG format which is lossless, I believe, but will result in generally larger image file sizes.

@Robbie ~:
In that case, k3w, there's only one WiFi only model. |

I am confusing about the ss hack. How does the autoreboot and random work?
I copy the empty file autoreboot and rename it to reboot, but never(only once after minutes but not the mentioned 10 seconds) reboot after I eject the USB. And also the empty file random seems not working as expected. It seems that it generated a random but fixed sequence for the pictures, so that every pictures will be shown up and again with the same sequence. This is not same as the original operation. Any body have comments? |

@cc200:
* The autoreboot was broken when you didn't have the fonts hack installed in v0.17.N. It's fixed now. * Yep, that's it. Quote:

My device is Kindle3 Wifi version 3.0.2. I downloaded update_jailbreak_0.4.N_k3w_install.bin, and put it into kindle, and update it. Then my kindle stun at the Software Update. And the process bar won't go. It's half a hour now from I updated it. What can I do?
I forced restart my kindle, and seems like it's OK now. Last edited by yzhuqing; 11-30-2010 at 02:52 AM. |

For the random ss, could it be some options to randomize the order after each sleep(quick slide power) or each deep sleep(slide ~5 seconds), but not only the full reboot? |
