Technically I can afford a doctor, I just can't find one.

No, no. See, I said I went to the same doctor as ownedbycats, but turns out it was a dentists office. So I was making up a silly reason as to why I would go to a dentist office for medical treatment. I thought the silliness was clarified by the widely grinning smiley.

I just read a fanfic where a character had tears "forming rabidly." That's a bit concerning.

I've also read multiple fanfics that had scenes involving characters needing to "diffuse" a bomb. I think setting it off would probably do that...

I'm currently reading a book which has chapters of diary entries interspersed between the regular novel. To make clear that the chapters are diary entries the author/publisher chose to not only use a different font, but also a different sized font. It's tiny compared to the font of the rest of the book. I have to quint to be able to read it.

I know it's easy to adjust the font, but I'm getting fed up with having to adjust it every couple of chapters (and the chapters are short). It just throws me off and I have trouble "staying" in the story.

That an author or publisher decides to use a different for to differentiate is fine by me, but keep the size the same. This is just really annoying.

Which is why publishers and formatters, etc. should have real-live devices upon which to test, to look for exactly that sort of problem.

I've been very aware of the font size issue since I bought a paperback copy of "The Corner," by David Simon. It was nearly 8-900 pages and the font had to be...I don't know, maybe, maybe 9pt. Might have been smaller. I have progressive lenses (far-to-reading) and by the end of 50-ish pages, my neck was sore from moving my dang head around, so that I could view the text on the pages "right." It was a nightmare--I ended up buying the thing in Kindle, so that I could mess with the size.

BUT, as you say, nobody wants to sit here and adjust, adjust, adjust, either. You really ought to kvetch. If you bought it from Amazon, you should report formatting errors, seriously. That's how they improve.

Just delete all .css files from the EPUB (.zip).
You can do this to DRMed files without any problems.
