True. I didn't say they were BIG discounts, but that they DO offer discounts. As far as I know every WfV audiobook is discounted if you own the corresponding Kindle book, but I very well could be wrong.

The Daily Deal books sometimes offer an even bigger discount on the Whispersync audiobook, but only if the audiobook is purchased while the daily deal is on. I've bought about 4 audiobooks that were priced at 99 cents when the Kindle book was a Daily Deal. The discount price went back to 1.99 or 3.99 the following day.
Another quirk I've noticed is that the Audible price listed on the book's Amazon webpage can be lower than the "regular" price on the Audible website. For example, the Audible edition of Three Parts Dead is 19.95 on the Amazon webpage, but the regular price on Audible.com is 23.07.
I transfer my Audible audiobooks to my Sansa mp3 players using Audible Manager.

Super late to the conversation, but I download my Audible books into iTunes, and then I set up a playlist "plays is 0" so that only unlistened to books are loaded onto my iPhone.

I use the Audible app to actually listen to the books -- you can choose from "Cloud" (Audible cloud), "Device" (downloaded from Audible and on your device) or "iTunes" (Audible books in iTunes) and I always choose iTunes. When I sync, the books I've already listened to are automatically removed from my phone and I don't have so much clutter to page through.

I don't use Whispersync so I don't know how that is affected.

Just to be clear, a whispersync Audible book is no different from a regular Audible title. It just means (other than being able to switch back and forth without losing your place) that you get the audiobook for a discount if you buy the ebook first. Once you own it, you can download it and play it just like any Audible title.

Although, playing the audiobook with iTunes/Apple's audiobook player as opposed to the Audible player may not sync the position into Amazon's cloud, so MAY affect WhisperSync for Voice in THAT aspect anyway.
