Going crazy! I changed the text size (DPI) settings and now I can't get to the bottom of the window where the buttons are to click apply to change the settings back! The whole box is larger than my laptop screen and the buttons are below my screen. I've moved the tool bar, still not there. The box is not one that can be resized so I can't make it smaller to see the buttons. I've made everything smaller that can be made smaller on that stupid window so it can be pushed as high up as I can get it. I hate Vista! If I use a second monitor the changes revert back when it is back on the laptop! I can make everything smaller but the size of the text box... grumble... I need an undo changes button!

EDIT: oops ... this may have been a rant..
Anyway, I gave up and just system restored. Only problem was that I hadn't set a restore point since 2/14 so all my file organizing was lost. My fault. But I can see my screen now, yea!!

Feeling hopeful after seeing several white spots in one of my jam jars this morning, and maybe one in the second: the tomatoes are germinating, yay!

tomatoes, already ! - with snow on the ground !

you're brave ....

now just wondering what i've done to my back. after an hour or so watching TV last night, with a cat on my lap, i discovered i could hardly get out of the chair and move freely. a hot compress overnight has done little, but a cold compress this morning has eased it ... feels like a bruise just over the bone on one side just below my waist. moving from/to a sitting position is painful, otherwise i can move okay.
unrelatedly my fingers are waxy white!

If you mean that I have no idea what I'm doing, you are perfectly right of course I have never been able to grow anything in my life, and caused the untimely demise of several otherwise healthy plants

So of course I looked for information on the Web, and several sources seem to agree that you can plant the seeds in February or March, but indoors of course. But I realized yesterday that I will probably (supposing they grow) need to put them in a bigger pot before I can put them on the balcony, and I'm not sure where in my kitchen I could put them

You've certainly given yourself an early start, it's when/where you will be able to put them until the threat of any outdoor frost has gone.... Mind I need talk, I usually leave it too late and they struggle to mature before the start of autumn.

Now you've got me itching to get started !!!!!!!

Thank you ....

If you ever find yourself in that situation again, rather than doing a system restore, try this:

Right click on an empty space on your monitor's screen.
Select "Personalize"
Select "Display settings"
Move the Resolution Slider to maximum.

The entire box should now be visible, and you should be able to re-adjust the font size, after which you can repeat the procedure to return your monitor's resolution to the desired setting.

The last frost in our area will occur on March 23, assuming Mother Nature sticks to her posted schedule. Yesterday I did some more tilling and hoeing in the garden, and today I plan to hoe a bit more then cover the garden with some weed control fabric. I'll be ready for planting!

FlorenceArt, I wish you the best of luck with your tomatoes this year!

Tomato seedlings are the first to be started in we northern clime. Indoor growth is slow, so if we seed in early april(two weeks time) flowers will only show at replanting time, early may. Growing season is short in Canada, planting indoors is the only way one can have ripe tropical fruit such as tomatos...

Corn doesn't even grow to maturity up from Quebec city (200 miles up from where I am), or just barely! Can you imagine that?

No. But I would do well there. I understand the bears need an extra layer of fat to survive the winter........I should be fine.

You are fortunate indeed! Usually when I find white spots in my jam jars, it's mold!
