The acclaimed suspense/thriller, The Father's Child, is now available for only .99.

What if you past was lie, your present a deception, and your future controlled by others? Pieces in the New Dawn puzzle, John Truman and his friends attempt to uncover their true identities and break free of a destiny set in motion centuries before. All he wants is to get through today; all they want is to rule the world.

"This story is indeed a thriller. The protagonists, John, Paul, Susan and Julia will take you on a mental adventure into a techno and psychological sub-culture that I found both exciting and mind bending. Adair has a knack for moving the story forward at a fast clip using both inner and outer dialogue. Adair provides his readers and his characters plenty of challenges, astonishing surprises and paradigm shifts that will blow your mind. It's a good read, a page turner, a thrilling ride and it's well written."

Enjoy!

Below is some info on my epic fantasy series, Harbinger of Doom. BTW - Book 1, The Gateway, won 3rd Best Fantasy Novel of 2009 in the Preditors & Editors Readers Poll and is on sale for .99 cents at Amazon.com. All books in the series are available in paperback and ebook versions at such retailers as Barnes and Noble, the Sony ebook store, the Apple Itunes store, Kobobooks.Com, and Smashwords.Com

Summary of Reader Reviews:

“...as good as any fantasy tale you will read, it honors the tradition, and adds to our lore a story so good, so well told, I hope it will be remembered forever.” --- Rai Aren, co-author of Secret of the Sands

“...fast paced and exciting with characters real enough to leap out of the pages...leaves the reader craving more.” --- Franz McLaren, author of Demon Drift and A Night of Dark Delicacies

“...Non-stop action that is written so well you can't stop reading it!” -- G.A. Endless, author of Issla: A Vampire Living in the 21st Century

“...The author paints each scene and battle so clearly that I felt I was in the middle of the action.” --- Mike Monahan, author of Barracuda.

“...The Gateway delivers straight up heroic fantasy with unapologetic hack and slash action.” -- Tracy Falbe, author of The Rys Chronicles

“...fast-paced, action-packed fantasy.” --- Debra Purdy Kong, author of Taxed to Death and Fatal Encryption

“...An adventure into magic and fantasy that pulls you in and does not let go...left me wanting more.”
--- R.M. Putnam, author of Destiny’s Warriors

“...the action never stops.” --- Susan McLeod, author of Soul and Shadow

Thater tells this tale “...in a voice as pretentious as Tolkein’s.” -- Dennis Batchelder, author of Soul Identity and Soul Intent.

“...an excellent foray into dark story adventure.” -- Jacamo Peterson, author of A Hard Place: A Sergeant's Tale, and Blademaster of Norda.

THE HARBINGER OF DOOM SAGA

The Harbinger of Doom saga centers around one Lord Angle Theta, an enigmatic warrior of unknown origins and mystical power. No mortal man is his match in battle. No sorcery can contain or confound him. No scholar or sage can outwit him. But for all his skills, he is but one of us; a man, a human, who shares our faults, our dreams, and our ambitions. He boldly strides across the land, fearless, peerless, and cloaked in mystery; all his will bent on righting such wrongs as he deems fit.

Until the day the Gateway opened and turned the world on its head. On that fateful day, Korrgonn came and washed away our dreams. And his outre' realms of chaos set their unholy mark upon our world and claimed it for their own.

Only Theta and his companions see the enemies aligning against us. Only they foresee our end coming -- the end of civilization, the end of the world of man. Only they can hope to turn the tide of madness and preserve all that we hold dear.

But no man, not even our greatest hero, can stand against the Lords of Chaos and the dark armies of Nifleheim at their command. Fiends that infiltrate unseen within our ranks, that tear down our temples and our traditions; that devour us from within, unseen, unknown, unheralded, and unopposed until the hour grows far too late.

Through the murk and mist that hangs before our eyes, one man only sees true. One man pierces the veil of magic that blinds us all and marks the world as it truly is, revealing secrets, secrets of Angle Theta, so horrifying as to shatter a man's mind and call into question the very nature of good and evil.
Join us now on our journey back to the days of high adventure.

Love the title of this thread. It's been months since I've been here, so I thought I'd be shameless this morning. Here's a couple of teasers.

THE GIFTS, A JACODY IVES MYSTERY

Setup: Sheriff Sarah Burns was born with what her grandmother calls "The Gift". In the final throes of death, souls reached out to her with dying messages. Only this time the message was for Sarah.

"He's coming, Sarah. He wants to destroy you."

http://amazon.com/dp/B003U4WVQ4/

SACRED SECRETS, A JACODY IVES MYSTERY

Setup: Charity Froste is one of three women missing. A prostitute, a nurse and a voodoo woman (Charity). Two of them are already dead.

Charity looked around her, her heart fluttering as reality closed in. She was in an old farm cellar. From the looks of it no one had been here for years. Tears formed, she bit her lip, steadied the candle. Her whispered words stirring fear into full blown terror. “Yous’ in trouble now, sugah. Yous’ done been buried alive.”

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003UHVS9C/

Both are still $.99 through the end of March. Have a great weekend!

Pandora’s Children Book 1: In the Chair has been re-edited for your pleasure. Meet a pair of dentist’s and the monsters they treat if you haven’t already.

Pandora’s Children Book 2: Too Young To Die will introduce you to: a malpractice attorney off to meet the woman of his dreams, with disastrous consequences; an elderly man trying to right a horrible wrong in the most brutal of fashions; and a father who is forced to deal with his drug addicted son in a most unorthodox way. This book is still free for Smashwords for another week and half. Visit the Pandora’s Children official website for instructions on how to get a coupon code.

Pandora’s Children Book 3: Death Bleeds Into Life features an 18 year old virgin looking for the warmth of a female’s body before a tumor takes his life, an elderly cult leader under arrest in the Utah desert, a young medical student facing the demons of her past in the gross anatomy lab, and a sophomore college student who needs to unravel the mystery of the room next door before he goes mad.

And, as always, Pandora’s Children: Dark Interludes, is available for free at Smashwords. 20,000 words. 7 spine-tingling stories.

If you’re tired of zombies, vampire romances, Armageddon and slashers, take a look at the Pandora’s Children collection. Only $.99 each.

And keep your eyes open for Book 4: Dogs of War, a standalone, 25,000 word novella out soon. It’s a brutal, heart-wrenching ghost story unlike anything you’ve read before.

I've got a new book out. See the sig below for details.
It's called the Tower of Sheagil and it is only available on Smashwords (for now, until the backlog there clears).

My fantasy books are a little different from most I see. Don't get me wrong here, I love reading Tolkien etc, but that isn't what I write. Sure, we're long ago and people wave swords about and there's magic and the odd dragon. But no one saves the world, with or without a magic ring. And there are no elves or dwarves either.

What started as a kind of holiday, traveling through Relanor, takes an odd turn and then a sinister one. Odd because Falia and Olcish are still switching places. Sinister when Falia gets a message meant for Olcish from someone she thought was only a legend. Sheagil has unfinished business.

It follows on from The White Fox. It just might work stand-alone, but you're better off reading the others first.

Some updates on my historical espionage thriller The Losing Role:

The New Podler Review of Books gave the novel its Independent Novel Award: Best of 2010. My favorite line from the write-up: "Enough dramatic tension to saw a Panzer in half."

Over at Stimulated Outlet Book Reviews, Alice Yeh recommends the book and gives a well-written review that really gets to the heart of the story. "The Losing Role succeeds in capturing and maintaining a reader's attention; the constant, underlying tension practically demands it," writes Yeh.

The book also made the cut into the next round of the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award (ABNA).

Happy reading,
Steve

A reader PM'd me about Phantoms of the Quantum Rift today with some inspiring comments:

"I've read a few romantic/ paranormal type books with portals in them, but this is the first time I've been given a convinicing scientific explanation! I enjoy your creative science-thinking, but also enjoyed the human interest element of Phantoms. The end left me a little wistful for Dave, but I like to think he will get his Susie back."

Price drop

I've reduced the price of my book, The Merry-Go-Round, to 99 cents. It's a romantic comedy. I hope you'll check it out.
