I'll go back to my keemun tea... made with tap water. But you know... just to be fair to this guy, let me test the pH of my tap water. I have a testing kit for my plants... back in a second... O.K. ... my tap water test right a pH 7, which is neutral. I guess I get to live another day! Of course, if I added lemon to my tea, that would make it rather acidic, (all that Citric acid, right?) so perhaps lemon-users should begin with water that is more alkaline so when they add lemon it comes out neutral. But then, if they add milk, Hmmmmm.... Milk contains lactic acid, styric acid, oleric acid, linoleic acid, and a couple more that I can't remember right now... How in the world can we add milk to tea and not poison ourselves with all this acidity? ![]() There is only one answer to this... Bombay Sapphire! It has 11 herbs to help make us healthy! And now... back to your regularly scheduled programing... Stitchawl |

Usually - I've got an espresso machine, but for bulk consumption I like filter - often make 1.5 litres first thing and jack myself up on it throughout the morning. Grinding takes less than a minute!

For me, it's just because I have a cup of coffee every single morning, and if I miss it I get a headache. Mild caffeine withdrawal, I guess, even though that's usually the only caffeine I get these days. Or maybe it's psychological -- I just THINK I need my coffee.

If only that was the whole of it. I have to prepare my filter machine, grind the coffee, and clean out the grinder and the machine afterward. Compared to spooning in a heap of instant coffee and putting the cup under the hot water spout - no contest!
So it's a cup of black (intant) coffee in my cup right now ![]() |

It depends on whether you see coffee as a gourmet beverage, or a caffeine delivery system. Morning coffee is a ritual with me. I buy my coffee as green, unroasted beans, roast my own in 150 gram batches, grind it properly with a burr grinder only when ready to brew, use water heated to the proper temperature for coffee extraction (195°F), allow three minutes of steep time and enjoy a great cup of coffee while I catch up on the news.
