Sorry, I was comparing this contest's odds to the previous one in December. We should see more 35% codes.

35% - MW2CMS

Seems a bit pointless even giving out codes of any percentage, when they seem to work on so few books. I've just tried to use the above 35% one on 9 different books and not once did it work. Maybe its just the books I like.....?

It depends on the publisher.
This post has a list of publishers it does work on.

I almost never open the emails they send with my contest codes, since I see what I need to know right on the contest page (usually, "Here's a 10% coupon you have no interest in"). I just delete them.

But all this talk of Kobo's weirdness has me afraid that one day I'll win the grand prize and they'll demand a screen shot of that day's contest email to claim it. Or between the contest screen and sending the email they'll decide I won an H20 and only mention it there. Or something equally weird.

There's not really any chance the emails have anything I might need to see or keep... is there?

In my experience, Kobo generally does ask for screen shots - so if you win, just make sure to keep that email.

Bugs me that they always make people register to enter the competitions when they could just allow you to log-in to your existing account.

Your old login (from previous contests) should now work. I've been using the same one now for 3 contests rather than having to re-register.

Letting you re-use your previous contest registration in new contests has certainly helped a TON, but I'm with you that using an actual Kobo account to log in to the contest would make more sense. For one thing, it means they get people to register accounts with them. Certainly that's hurdle number one to getting people to actually shop there, no? And second, it should help enforce the one-entry-per-person rule that is so wildly abused. Not that I want to see it enforced, but presumably they do.

If you win the grand prize, they will send you a personalized email like Dear YOUR NAME, CONGRATULATIONS...etc, not the generic ones they use for sending the codes. They won't ask for any screenshots either.

But winning the device, they will send the generic ones and the screenshot of the email. And prepare yourself with the battle for claiming your prize.

I think there's a catch in these codes. If you didn't look closely at the email they sent, it says there: • Click on "Redeem Now" and choose an eligible eBook from the select list.

So the codes work on selected books only.

It may be location-dependent, but I just got a 25% coupon and was interested in a 99 cent story and had no trouble using it. I suppose the term "select titles" means books that are usually eligible for coupons.

It's just a list to get you started browsing, I think. I checked a few books on my wishlist and they are all still couponable.

It's always said that. Well, since I've bothered actually reading any of them at least. Definitely not a new thing.
