The Vent and Rant Thread

Now for a real rant. We got hot water back, finally, Thursday evening. Now my washing machine is DOA. The seal at the bottom is leaking like a sieve. We didn't budget for this when we moved, and are hard pressed at the moment to make ends meet. I guess I'll be using the laundry room here at the apartments to wash, at least.

Plus my son's truck is in the shop for its brakes. Does someone think we are made of money???

Big hug KK!! Like most people have said there is no such thing as "normal", everyone deals with things in their own way, and the way you deal with it will depend on the situation, so you may grieve differently for different people.

More importantly though, from your posts while you were there it sounds like there may have been so much other drama and side issues going on that you didn't get a chance to focus, and now that you do it might be hitting a bit harder than you thought.

Just let yourself know that it will pass and you'll be back to your old self shortly, with Arwen, Strider, and the Newf's help - and of course your friends here at MR!!

Not exactly a rant, but has anyone here ever sent a Kindle to be repaired? I haven't used my K2 US since I dropped it a few months ago (I replaced it with a K2i), and I was wondering what it would cost to get it refurbished. The screen is not broken, but the display is all whacked.

I think I remember reading on here about some guy who was buying broken Kindles, getting them repaired and selling them.....probably worthwhile fixing it based on that.

Thanks, Kenny, I'll look into it. I'm bought the extended warranty when I bought the K2i (live and learn!), but I didn't order it for the K3 I ordered, figuring I would have the K2i in case I needed a backup.

I'm thinking of selling the Nook along with its Oberon cover. I hate to part with that cover, but it doesn't fit my Kindle. Then again, maybe I could cut two of the straps and sew in some additional leather. It is beautiful; but as it doesn't fit the K2, I know it won't begin to fit the K3!

aww, (((kk)), I missed a lot...so sorry!

I had a junk day, fedex delivered me a new mac laptop last week... with significant water damage to the packaging. So I refused it (per the delivery guy's suggestion) and called apple. Talked to someone who said they'd send me one out right away.... a week later, not even shipped yet. Called again and talked to someone who said the guy messed up and credited me my money instead, and now the new shipment is awaiting payment before going out. Uh, I was just at the bank, I'm out the money, it's not been credited at all! So now we're in limbo until she confirms with someone whatever the hell is going on! ugh, I want my laptop!!

And, on top of some other crap going on right now (I won't even go into it), I just accidentally paid $5.99 for a book I don't want at all! damn kindle and its once-click payment!! It's a flipping ipod touch, I accidentally touched it while changing the page!

AND I just saw a cockroach climbing on the wall, and I MISSED!

Broke off a friendship today.
One of the first ones I made when I originally came to MobileRead.
Don't know how to feel about it.
Apparently I can't have an "off" day.
60+ hours without sleep, I'm supposed to laugh off everything.
Even the things I find offensive.
Apparently a cheap laugh is more important than a friendship.
Maybe I'm expecting too much from a virtual friendship.
What the Hell do I know?
I guess I was supposed to say "Oh, you are SO funny! Kick me again!"
My mistake.

Sounds like a whole gang of bad vibes ganged up on you! Actually sounds like my life....whole slew of bad things come in on a wave! I spent most of Sunday shopping for a new refrigerator and finally decided and ordered on-line (from a local store). They were supposed to call about delivery (within 24 hours) which was supposed to be next-day but I still haven't hear anything....thank goodness the old one is still working sort-of..

Cockroaches! Eeek!

Sorry about that. I have an inkling of what happened I think. I think sometimes people get too caught up in this internet/forum thing....I know I have in the past...I try not to these days.

Everyone can have an off day. You and those you interact with. Best thing is to not get too caught up in it. It's not really going to matter in 30 years eh?

I know from personal experience that the actual taking of your money happens in a heartbeat, the giving it back though can take several days sometimes. I'm sure you'll get it back, it might just take a day or two more. Too bad you have to wait on the laptop in the meantime though. At least you have roach patrol to keep you occupied

That's tough to hear recluse. Yes, you're allowed to have an off day, so is everyone else. Like Kenny said it is easy to get caught up in all of this sometimes. There is every chance it will blow over and two weeks from now you'll be joking about it.
