in other news, i finally bought new batteries for the laser pointer. and the cats have clearly had time to stock up on crack. there is much tearing around the house chasing the RED DOT !!! tonight. best cat toy ever.

in the later part of the game, yes. the first part of the game consists of them tearing madly back and forth through the house in a high-speed RED DOT chase, usually bumping into each other and the furniture several on the way, and occasionally into the walls. after they've gotten the first excitement out of their system and are just sitting there, *then* i do the "catch and escape" game. sometimes they catch it with their paw, sometimes they eat it. sometimes it's on the wall and they have to leap up to catch it.

And do they suddenly realise that they are looking a bit silly; then stop and engage in prolonged washing themselves, with an "I didn't really mean it" expression?

Those micro Olympus cameras are pretty darn nifty as well. I'm just not so sure about the 4/3" format. Also they might force us to use those horrid "xD" cards.

I hang out on an Olympus mailing list (it started as an "OM" list, but has steadily evolved, and is fairly casual in nature). It makes me less averse to the format, though, saying that, I just updated my DSLR to a "full-frame" model.

Yes. Though it seems that their larger cameras are providing the "Compact Flash" option (their smaller are providing for "microSD"). I'm not sure how much staying power xD has. Personally, I like CF because I'm least likely to accidentally insert one in a nostril or lick the back of it and attach it to an envelope.

I got rechergeables... And I've had to recharge them often so far

Two cats + 1 dot + some corner = great fun!
One cat + 1 dot + slippery floor = greater fun!


One cat will tear after the dot with all he has (he is also the one that catches all the mice). The other is a lot bigger and much less flexible. So, Cat 2 will sit behind a wall, waiting for Cat 1 to barge by again. And then spring out of his corner and tackle the other cat. I think he's jealous he just can't keep up with the tight curves I keep on forcing.

I only need to pick the thing up and the eyes of one cat will open wide, his tail will start swishing and he will start mewling, full of anticipation. And then he'll jump three times his body height against the wall, slide halfway the hallway to chase the dot around and fall over the other cat who has given up and is laying on the floor
