Regrettably not on sale at Amazon UK. I have all the Rabbi Small books, but not "Nine-Mile Walk".

Free on Amazon UK - Villa Plot, Counterplot by Douglas Stewart

Spoiler:
In this, the second Alistair Duncan story, the Bristol solicitor is instructed by local publican Martin Harper to help with his problems involving a Spanish villa plot which he has purchased.

Unknown to both solicitor and client, they are taking on a ruthless and unscrupulous trio of international con-men who have been playing on the stupidity and greed of purchasers like the publican.

Traps for the unwary in buying property in Spain are spelt out in stark terms.

The story takes Alistair Duncan abroad once again, this time to Spain and France, in his attempts to help a client who, at times, seems more intent on helping himself to the dolly birds than in sorting out his problems.

Maid of Honor is a non-series title by Charlotte MacLeod, who also wrote the Peter and Helen Marsh Shandy, Sarah Kelling and Max Bittersohn, Dittany Henbit and Osbert Monk, and Janet and Madoc Rhys series. It has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle and Kobo US.

SYKM doesn't list this title, but Open Road seems to have found and published it somehow...

Quote:
A young woman must escape family conflict—and find her own identity—in order to track down a thief in this novel by an acclaimed mystery writer.

Persis Green’s existence has been overshadowed by the looming prospect of her older sister’s wedding. Her family was once normal—boring, but normal. Then the engagement was announced and all hell broke loose. Now, Persis’s father acts like a zombie at dinner parties, her mother goes from zero to shrieking in seconds, and her sister is utterly self-absorbed.

When Persis wins a statewide piano competition and a scholarship to a prestigious music conservatory, her big news is pushed aside. In addition to the general chaos of the impending nuptials, one of her sister’s wedding gifts, a wildly expensive piece of jewelry, has disappeared.

Feeling like the only sane member of the family, Persis commits her cool head to solving the mystery. But there are other surprises she’ll discover in the course of her investigation in this absorbing tale by the author of the popular Sarah Kelling and Max Bittersohn series.

Who's on First is the third in the Blackford Oakes series by William F. Buckley. It has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle and Kobo US (couponable/VIPable). Much as with Ruth Dudley Edwards (and not, for some reason, with Tom Clancy, IMO), although I don't agree with the author's politics, the stories are still fun, and the politics doesn't seem to extraneously get in the way but rather to be a reasonable part of the story. YMMV... Anyway, I've enjoyed the Blackie Oakes titles that I've read.

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0116EBXO0
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/who-s-on-first-2

Spoiler:
Quote:
Blackford Oakes dodges KGB spies and Hungarian freedom fighters while trying to stop Sputnik

The students of Budapest rise up against the Soviets with the assurance that the West will help them fight. Instead, 200 Russian tanks roll across the Hungarian border, sweeping the resistance aside. It’s a heartbreaking setback for democracy in Eastern Europe—and a pain in the neck for Blackford Oakes. Trapped in Budapest when the fighting breaks out, this warm-hearted cold warrior must think quickly to stay ahead of the troops. But as the revolution collapses around him, he finds the Red Army is the least of his worries.

American intelligence has received word that the Soviets are planning to launch a satellite into space—a move that could shift the entire Cold War in their favor. It’s up to Oakes to stop them, and help the United States make its first steps toward the stars.

Who’s on First is the 3rd book in the Blackford Oakes Mysteries, but you may enjoy reading the series in any order.

Picture Miss Seeton is the first in the original Miss Seeton series by Heron Carvic. It is free right now at Kindle and Kobo US.

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/Picture-Miss-...dp/B075738JZ3/
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/picture-miss-seeton

Spoiler:
Quote:
“Actually—” Oh, dear, this was most embarrassing. It sounded so—so aggressive. But she must be exact. “Actually I was a little angry—at his rudeness, you know—so I poked him in the back...“

When Miss Seeton walks out after a performance of Carmen and witnesses a real-life stabbing, all she can recall is a shadowy figure. But how could she have guessed that her latest artistic endeavor is a picture-perfect portrait of the killer?

Her sketch puts her in a perilous position, for back at her recently inherited cottage in Plummergen village, she’s fated to be a sitting duck . . . for murder most foul!

Meet Miss Emily D. Seeton: this retired art teacher steps in where Scotland Yard stumbles. Armed with only her sketch pad and umbrella, she is every inch an eccentric English spinster and the most lovable and unlikely master of detection.

In Spite of Thunder is the 20th (blurb) or 21st (SYKM) in the Dr. Gideon Fell series by John Dickson Carr . It has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle US.

The master of the Golden Age British-style detective novel presents his redoubtable sleuth Dr. Gideon Fell in a baffling murder mystery set in the Swiss Alps

Young Audrey Page has been warned against joining the aging film star Eve Eden and her temperamental friends at a Swiss chalet. Trustingly, she goes anyway and finds herself encircled by terror when a murderer strikes. With its eerie similarities to a crime that dates back to World War II, the murder attracts the attention of Dr. Gideon Fell, a brilliant sleuth with an eye for solving impossible murder cases. He will find that in this corner of the Alps, the air is thin, the scenery is beautiful, and the snow runs red with blood.

In Spite of Thunder is the 20th book in the Dr. Gideon Fell Mysteries, but you may enjoy reading the series in any order.

Dividend on Death is the first in the Mike Shayne series by Brett Halliday (per SYKM, a pseudonym originally for Davis Dresser, later also for other authors). It has dropped to $0.99 at Kindle US.

link: https://www.amazon.com/Dividend-Deat...dp/B00WRYER4C/

Spoiler:
Quote:
A girl begs Mike Shayne to help keep her from killing her own mother

Mike Shayne has just poured himself a drink when Phyllis Brighton tries to throw herself out the window of his downtown apartment. Luckily, he blocks her just before she can launch herself over the sill. She tried to warn him she was crazy, but he didn’t listen. Her doctor and her new stepfather, on the other hand, both believe Phyllis is suffering from a kind of Electra complex— a fixation with her mother that is so intense that Phyllis would rather kill her than share her with anyone else. Shayne agrees to do whatever he can to keep Phyllis from killing her mother, but that doesn’t ensure that the woman will live.

When Mrs. Brighton is found with a knife buried in her back, all signs point to the Phyllis’s guilt. But this hard-boiled private investigator didn’t stop someone from jumping out a window just to send her to the electric chair. And it doesn’t take a degree in psychology to find a killer—it takes brains, eyes, and two strong fists. Mike Shayne is just the man for the job.

Holy Disorders is the 2nd in the Gervase Fen series by Edmund Crispin. It is a US Kindle Countdown deal at $0.99 for about 1/2 more day.

link: https://www.amazon.com/Holy-Disorder...dp/B00HRCBW2O/

Spoiler:
Quote:
"A master of the whodunnit… he combines a flawless plot, witty dialogue, and a touch of hilarity" - The New York Times

Holy Disorders takes Oxford don and part time detective Gervase Fen to the town of Tolnbridge, where he is happily bounding around with a butterfly net until the cathedral organist is murdered, giving Fen the chance to play sleuth. The man didn't have an enemy in the world, and even his music was inoffensive: could he have fallen foul of a nest of German spies or of the local coven of witches, ominously rumored to have been practicing since the 17th century?

Tracking down the answer pleases Fen immensely - only the reader will have a better time.

Erudite, eccentric and entirely delightful - Before Morse, Oxford's murders were solved by Gervase Fen, the most unpredictable detective in classic crime fiction.

Just noticed a "Series Bundle deals" link under the "More Summer Deals" heading on Kindle US Book Deal page. (It may have been there a while...I just noticed it.) The savings can be pretty significant: three titles for $2.40, three titles for $2.67, four titles for $1.75, etc. Many (all?) appear to be Amazon-published.

In mysteries, there are bundles by the following authors:
  • Mary Burton
  • Blake Crouch
  • Anne Frasier
  • Melinda Leigh
  • Elisabeth Naughton
  • Meg Elison
  • Mark Dawson
  • Marti Green
  • Steven Konkoly
  • JD Horn
  • Melissa F Olson
  • Karen McInerney
  • David L Robbins
  • Martin Jensen (I highly highly recommend this series if you like historical mysteries, and am distraught that Amazon has only had three translated into English. The only reason not to read these three is the disappointment you'll have at all the untranslated titles you won't get to read, unless, of course, you happen to read Danish...)
  • Christine Kling
  • Orest Stelmach
  • Jessie Humphries

Spoiler:
A crime from the past. A murder from the future.

DS Fiona Griffiths is bored. It's been months since she had a good corpse. Then she gets news; not just of a murder, but of a decapitation, and one committed with an antique sword no less. All that, and, a murder scene laid out like a gruesome crossword clue.

Gaynor Charteris was an archaeologist excavating a nearby iron-age site. Genial, respected, well-liked, it was hard to see why anyone would want to kill her.

But as Fiona starts to investigate, she finds evidence of a crime that seems to have its origins in King Arthur's greatest battle - a crime so bizarre that getting her superiors to take it seriously is going to be her toughest job. Especially since the crime hasn't yet been committed.
