These are a must read for anyone that likes their fantasy violent and morally ambiguous. Cook was grimdark before grimdark was cool.

I will probably give the first Black Company Omnibus a shot. Thanks for posting.

Is the first omnibus (the first 3 books) a complete story? Or will I need to move onto the second?

The first omnibus contains a complete story arc. The story continues on (obviously) but your still getting a complete story in the first omnibus.

Couple of bargains I found recently--Stephen Goldin brought back his backlist to ebooks. Waaaay back when, I read and enjoyed the Jade Darcy series. A fun, adventure--very accessible sci/fi kind of a thriller and written more with character in mind...although there are some thought points too. Anyway, those books are under 5 at all outlets, but he recently put his Parsina series into a boxed set at Kobo:

https://store.kobobooks.com/en-us/eb...e-parsina-saga

It's pre-order right now for 9.99, but apparently the price will go to ~15 once it is live. With kobo couponing I'm not sure whether it will be better to wait for coupons. I haven't read this particular series, but I did enjoy his writing on the other series, enough to mark this one (the individual books are available on Amazon, but not the boxed set.)

Anyway, I think it worth checking out.

In the fantasy arena, Ilona Andrews just released the next book in the Clean Sweep series (Sweep in Peace) and so the first, Clean Sweep is on sale for $1.99

http://www.amazon.com/Clean-Sweep-In...an+sweep+ilona

The second is 4.99, which was the regular price for the first. No idea how long the reduced price of the first will last. It's a good read. I thought it could have used some fleshing out in spots, but it was written and released a chapter at a time. This is Ilona Andrews self-published line.

Oh, that's a pretty good deal. I'm hesitating between the omnibus or not. I've read books 1-2 twice now, I have them both in paperback (found them a very tough read / hard to understand what's going on). Figured I'd revisit them again soon and hit book three next. Generally I'm not a big fan of huge omnibus editions in ebook form (prefer individual titles)...

Could probably just buy book 3 / 4...

I wouldn't want Malazan in an Omnibus ... that'd be like a 10,000 page book.

It's a great series but books 1-5 all introduce new character sets, though I generally found them all better written as they went along, with 1 being the weakest overall. I'd recommend just buying 3 or 4 and seeing if you want to continue.

Easy enough to break in up into separate books with the Calibre "EPubSplit" plugin.

I can confirm, that plugin is insanely easy to use. I was surprised how easy it was!

Thanks, something to consider. I've certainly edited epubs before, but I hate converting formats / splicing up / etc for a product I'm buying. I'll probably just buy books 3 & 4 for now. I'm still not sold on the series, not sure I want to drop $50 all at once just to save like .70 a book.
