Dear Aliens,

please, either abduct me and thesis' books and my laptop and my ereader, preferably where I can get 3G or wifi connection; also, the cat would be a plus and she would be quite interesting to analyse for this August. I am quite informative on human civilisations, I could help you understand us a bit better. On my side, I have to write the thesis and I can't write a thing in this messy house with my parents and all the bloody libraries closed.

Another plus would be zapping the ex in the pants next September when he's trying not to appear to be the usual fool at some congress, but, well, that would be too much to ask from you, I suppose, and not very yogi. Not that I practice yoga anymore, but still.

Juliette, bless your heart! Are you old enough to get a hotel room for a few days and get away from the parents? Just a quiet room to work in and a lovely pool for study breaks?

that would be fantastic, and yes, I'm old ebough, but for a whole month it's not the best solution (two chapters for October mean... er, seclusion, which would be ok if said libraries were available). I suppose the best solution would be them learning to respect each other's space and habits, even when they're coped into the same house (or environnment). One would imagine that adults are adults and behave accordingly, but it's not always an accurate depiction of the reality :P

How the hell does one break a sneaker???

Well I did and now I cannot go running. Anyone know of a good 30 minute cardio routine I can do? I am about to go wing it.

AHHHH! Our apartment complex is without hot water and had been since sometime Sunday night or very early Monday. My hubby found out at 4:15 Monday morning when he showered to go to work.

They keep claiming the part they need was overnighted Monday, from Canada. Canada, really? There was no one in the US, or even in the lower US that had or could make this part?

And as hot as it is here, I hate cold showers or baths. I don't even know how a whole complex of buildings loses hot water. Something about a boiler, so it must supply everyone. I know before this we never had to worry about running out of hot water.

I. WANT. HOT. WATER. My whites really need washing, as do my dishes. Heating up a pan of water just doesn't work well when washing dishes. And I feel grungy, even though I went to my sister's today and could wash. Not an everyday option since she lives about 95 miles from me.
