Wow! Talk about culture shock! Are you sure you don't want to read War and Peace first—as a bit of a segue?

I just finished A Feast for Crows, by George R.R. Martin. People said I was going to be let down after the otherworldly third volume, but I am happy to say I was not. I was spellbound, as usual by Mr. Martin. I am taking a bit of a break before I tackle the next volume, mainly because then I will be caught up, and I know the wait will be almost unbearable.

I am currently reading Ready Player One, by Ernest Cline. I have been so wiped out by work the last few nights that I haven't had very much of a chance to read it. Only 2-3 chapters in so far, but as an ex-WoW junkie, I think I will easily be able to identify with it. It's supposed to be a quick read, I hope so because I need to be done by 11/8.

Hehe... Yeah, I know it's quite the turnaround. I was considering going with The Name of the Wind or The Passage, but ultimately decided that The Way of Kings has been sitting on my (virtual) shelf for too long. Besides, the second volume is expected out next year, so I might as well begin.

I'm not the fastest of readers to begin with, and with as little time as I've been managing for reading lately, it will take me a while to get through this behemoth.

I surely will. I expect to enjoy it, as I've read all of Sanderson's Fantasy novels, and like him quite a bit.

I totally agree. I think I'm halfway through and the main character is rather annoying to me now.

I also just downloaded The Drowning Pool from Amazon as my workmate recommended it. It was 99p.

I'm still reading The Well and liking it so far.

I love his writing, and this is a wonderful book. Full thoughts in a day or two, as I'm still digesting what I've read (31%) and making notes.

The usual collection of short stories, continuing serials and fact articles all about the 1632 universe created by Eric Flint. With the addition of a couple of SF/Fantasy stories from the demise of Baen's Universe. Good stuff.

Next: Another Agatha Christie, Dumb Witness, her 28th book.

I feel compelled to share with you Poirot's explanation of why dogs don't like postmen.

‘It’s a matter of reasoning,’ said Poirot. ‘The dog, he argues from reason. He is intelligent, he makes his deductions according to his point of view. There are people who may enter a house and there are people who may not — that a dog soon learns. Eh bien, who is the person who most persistently tries to gain admission, rattling on the door twice or three times a day — and who is never by any chance admitted? The postman. Clearly, then, an undesirable guest from the point of view of the master of the house. He is always sent about his business, but he persistently returns and tries again. Then a dog’s duty is clear, to aid in driving this undesirable man away, and to bite him if possible. A most reasonable proceeding.’

And I'll also note how different the world is now. Post delivery two or three times a day! Astonishing.

i'm just starting to now read gladiator by philip wylie

Thank you for following up! I'll put the book on my wish list although I'd probably 100 before I get around to reading it. Have I mentioned (lately) that you read too darn fast!!!
