I had this when using use_archiveofourown_gay:true a few days again. Commenting out login details in personal.ini means that FFF asks you to login to download AO3 locked files. It quite happily accepts this and gets on with downloading the book.

I have no idea how/why Cloudflare decided to block my previous one. I hadn't used FFF for over 2 weeks when I tried to download some fics, and every single one came back with that 403 error. Taking out my setting configuration all info related to my login, allowed me to download not locked fics, but the locked ones were still giving me errors.
My account could access AO3 normally, it wasn't banned from the site nor anything else, but for some reason, Cloudflare blocked it when using FFF

I commented out username and was able to download series anthologies again, but trying to download an AO3 Locked file still failed. Did you comment out both username and password? I only took out one. It asked for both when I ran the download, then failed to download the update. Usual error.

The FFF plugin has a signal it will emit after the "proceed with updating your library" dialog.

The code for the Action Chains Module I tested with is:

Stumbled upon this while starting to look at action chains. I added this to my modules. but I haven't noticed anything different? Is this saying that it'll make a signal tone, or is this talking about the little pop-up that occurs? I would love a little "ding" or some sort of audible notification but after trying this, and playing around with my mac settings nothing really happens

I'm trying to clean up and merge fandom tags and usually have success by placing the example line below in the replace metadata section in the personal ini

A Song of Ice and Fire & Related Fandoms=> House of the Dragon

but it has trouble when a fandom is originally in another language, for example if I write

선의의 경쟁 | Friendly Rivalry=>Friendly Rivalry

it gets written as Friendly Rivalry | Friendly Rivalry

Any suggestions on getting this to clean up to just one title for the fandom column

Well, yes. It's failing on login, so login fails.

It helps with anthology because you don't actually need the login much of the time.

I don't remember basically anything about Action Chains. If you got a pop up that said 'HERE', that was it.

Your issue isn't the foreign language, it's the '|' which is a special 'or' character in regular expressions. See wiki page.

I commented out both but if you are getting the login window then you should be OK.

That said AO3 is still in Beta and has been "wonky" for ages. Whenever I get AO3 download errors, I wait a day and try again; which usually works.

A question for the collective intelligence here. Should the following two entries work?

replace_metadata:
fandoms,category=>^.*Harry Potter.*$=>Harry Potter&&series=>Harry Potter

I would also like to add “Harry Potter” to the SERIES field. Unfortunately, it doesn't work.

include_metadata_pre:
#ts==Fantasy

I would like to always add the word Fantasy to the #TS field for a specific publisher. Unfortunately, that doesn't work either.

What am I overlooking?

In short, no. I think you've misunderstood how these work.

'&&' in a replace_metadata is not an added effect. It's what I call a conditional--the preceding part of the line will only be applied if the conditional also matches.

replace_metadata:
 fandoms,category=>^.*Harry Potter.*$=>Harry Potter&&series=>Harry Potter

This says: Change the entirety of any value of fandoms or category containing "Harry Potter" to only "Harry Potter", but only if the series entry contains "Harry Potter". See wiki page.

include_metadata_pre:
 #ts==Fantasy

The in/exclude_metadata_pre/post family of settings operate only on FFF metadata and only to remove specific matched values with exclude, or, oppositely, to discard all values that don't match with include. See wiki page

#ts is, presumably, a Calibre column. Populating custom columns is done with custom_columns_settings. See defaults.ini.

(FYI, use [code], not [quote] around INI examples.)

In theory, could a story (AO3 oneshot) that was cached in browser but deleted afterwards be retrieved with FFF?

Recently happened, unfortunately I'd overwritten the cached version before realizing it might be possible.

By increasing browser_cache_age_limit, if it's still there.

But, unless you use a different browser for FFF, how would you know without invalidating the cache?

Downloaded without cache on, said story not available. And I knew it was overwritten because I'd cleared the cache last night, after I opened in browser.

Hello! Hoping someone can help me with this — I'm working on cleaning up my metadata, and one of the bookmark tags I used to use on Ao3 was "fave author". I'm trying to use replace_metadata in calibre to make it "Favorite Authors", but because author is a field in FanFicFare, it's not working (the word turns green in my personal.ini). How do I escape it to make it match the literal word? I've tried '', ', \, [ ], \{}, ., .*, (.*) (various suggestions I've found online, but I think I don't have the right terms to google). Thanks!

Ah dang it, of course I figured it out as soon as I posted this. I was accidentally testing on a fic I'd apparently added the tag to manually so it wasn't pulling it when I updated from saved metadata. Sorry!
