I've been doing some read up on resistant starches and I think this has some merit to it. Potatoes, reheated pasta and rice all have it and make it difficult to digest for some and cause severe bloating. Potatoes are my favorite food too.I have no problems with white bread. whole grain or wheat are too hard to digest. Sent from my Nexus 7 |

I just got a Fitbit Charge 2 in Boxing Day sales. Set a target of 7,000, but most days I doing at least 10,000 (even on Sunday when it was 45 C). I also use the 250 steps an hour feature - my target is at least 10 a day. Early yet, but the factual feedback (not the stupid messages and glitz) does seem to motivate me - also bought some hand weights.
Stopped the booze about 20 years ago. After my third divorce (all amicable) I took stock of my life. Realised I didn't really like the stuff or its effects, so I stopped drinking it. A couple of years later on a very hot day someone offered me a beer, I accepted a small glass - was two-three days before the foul taste disappeared, haven't had any since. Also stopped smoking (realised how much it was costing me) and eating meat which I never really liked either. I don't have a weight target yet, partly because I am not sure what I weigh - I'll ask my cardiac rehab therapists later today, they weigh me twice a week and write it down, but I never asked them what it was ![]() BR |

I'm also part of the Fitbit brigade; I've got the minimalist Zip, as I don't care for watches, jewelry, that sort of thing and I stick the Zip in my pocket, or my bra if I'm pocketless. I've also got the Aria, the Fitbit scale, which is handy as it syncs my weight to the app.
So I nerved myself to check my steps stats and it's as I thought; while I hit my steps everyday through December 23, I've done a lot of sitting around since. The weather didn't help. Time to get back in the saddle which applies literally as well, as my stationary bicycle is now back in its corner of the den occupied by the Christmas tree until yesterday. :big sigh: |

Well I did weigh myself today, and I was pleasantly surprised to see I've only gained a pound over Christmas. Overall since mid 2017 I have gained 8 pounds, but at least the overindulgence over the holiday has not made it significantly worse.

I lost another three pounds bringing since November 17th total weight loss to 18 pounds.
I live on pita sandwiches. Easy to make. Lean meat, veggies, thin sliced cheese, a dab of dressing. I'm seditary because of health issues so weight loss is all due to diet. I'm not supposed to exercise due my hemoglobin being in the low range. I do walk around the apartment, organize my paperbacks but that's it. Sent from my XT1528 |

Gosh Blossom, is your doctor monitoring all this? It sounds pretty drastic. Any suggestions for a different form of treatment?

I've been stuck on a plateau for a month. I'm still 30 pounds over my target, so yesterday I decided to eliminate another 100 calories daily from my diet. My daily intake still fluctuates, however, as I still add allowable calories each day according to the number of steps I take as recorded by my Fitbit.

I haven't been able as yet to find the resolve I need. I'm eating too much in the evening as I haven't gotten my appetite back in check post-Christmas.
On the positive side, I'm hitting my step goal again and I've been getting on my stationary bicycle every day. |

Blame the weather for still having a huge appetite. Been too cold to do much of anything but eat. |

I'm just grateful I can eat more than boil chicken and a roll now. I don't have a regular doctor. No health insurance. At first I didn't get hungry at all for about a month now I do get a little hungry now and the other day my tummy growled wanting food. I tried eating a fast food salad the other day. Ten minutes later I ran to the bathroom. My system purge it. I'm having symptoms that my sister had after she got her gallbladder removed. However ER doctor did a gallbladder blood test and it came back fine so who knows he refused a CT Scan. I'm taking probiotics. I was prescribed Pepcid but I'm already on Nexium. I didn't notice any difference taking it with the Nexium so I stopped. I stopped taking the Flexeril they prescribed as that made me feel loopy and out of it for 24 hours. I'm doing much better than I was in December. I don't bloat after eating much any more. I'm still having Costochondritis flares up due to the weight loss. Sent from my XT1528 |
