Now that's better. From The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak. A lovely little book.

I figured that would be a little easier. Maybe not so little though it is over 500 pages. I really enjoyed The Book Thief. My selection for an author beginning with Z for my challenge this year.

I've read Another Roadside Attraction and Skinny Legs and All. I'm surprised I haven't read more from Robbins because ART was very entertaining. I've pur Half Asleep in Frog Pajamas on next year's required reading list.

I read Even Cowgirls Get the Blues back in the dawn of time, and my admittedly sketchy memory of it suggests it wouldn't age well.

As you said, a really enjoyable 5* read.

This is from an author well known for a different genre of writing, but this is far and away my favourite of his:

"My father once had me believing that the earth was a Mobius strip, not a sphere. He still maintains that he believes this, and makes a great show of sending off a manuscript to publishers down in London, trying to get them to publish a book expounding this view, but I know he's just mischief-making again, and gets most of his pleasure from his acts of stunned disbelief and then righteous indignation when the manuscript is eventually returned."

I think I'm glad I didn't know this character. Knowing him sounds dangerous.

No. The author is well known, but this, his first novel, may not be so well read. If you know the book, this should give it away (a bit graphic, I know...):

"It was as I turned away from the door that I saw it. No. Much more recent.

Here's a clue to the author. He started off writing contemporary novels, but is now much better known for his space opera Sci-Fi books. He uses a middle initial to distinguish between his different genre offerings.
