I barely remember those. Though recall enjoying them. I also tend to recall them being quick reads.

I finally finished the Starfish trilogy. Turns out Blindsight is not part of the series, so I'm skipping it for now. I highly recommend those books to anyone looking for a very detailed hard scifi book that delves into character psyches.

Now I'm moving on to the Discworld books, since it looks like eBookwise pretty much has most or all of them. I'm honestly not enjoying The Color of Magic as much as I expected to, but I think a lot of the problem is that I bought it from eBookwise instead of Fictionwise, and so I'm stuck reading IMP on the device large font setting (which I can barely see) instead of getting it in a format that I can make into jumbo font. Very soon, I'll only be able to see print on a computer monitor, but that's OK, because I don't mind reading PDF's blown up 200%, just so long as I'm able to keep reading.

I loved Amber stories. One of the best fantasy series I have ever read.
However, I was very disappointed with Lord of Light and Doorways in the Sand was ...meh.
Odd. My reactions are almost completely the opposite. Doorways in the Sand remains one of my all-time favorite books, and I also really liked Lord of Light. Whereas the Amber books sort of had their ups and downs. Loads of really interesting ideas, but not very sympathetic characters, until the beginning of the Merlin series, and then he doesn't really stay nice, either.

Just read an finished "Talking With The Dead". It was an Amazon freebee. A pretty good quick read. Not very deep... I wonder if the book existed just for the explicit sex scene. That makes 4 books read in Nov08 so far. Usually I seem to read about 1 book a week. But, the last few months I seem to have read some long ones... Spin was pretty long and Orphans of Chaos was long and I gave up reading it to, so that doesn't even count.

Now reading The Hound of the Baskervilles... the presumptive MRBC december book selection. It is really good so far... 3 chapters in and hard to put down.

Finished A Night in the Lonesome October by Roger Zelazny.
I liked it. Actually, it was very good for a short novel. 8 out of 10.
Surprisingly so, after a very big disappointment in Lord of Light and mediocre The Doors in the Sand.

Started to re-read The Count of Monte Cristo. In Russian! 12 years since I read it the last time.

I know it's unnecessary, astra, but I feel bad about that since I was a recommending party. Lord of Light, as you know, has been one of my favourite books. Ah, well. It's all a rich tapestry.

I just started Titan by John Varley. I've only read a few pages, to where first physical contact is made, but thus far it feels a little...simple. It's only twenty-something pages in though. I still might end up putting it aside, if my head's in more of a "heavy reading" space at the moment.

Cheers,
Marc

Chesterton's "Orthodoxy" - trying again - I keep getting sidetracked - and "Crime and Punishment" - those are my good for my brain books. And then my candy reading is "Ancient Shores" by Jack McDevitt and Dean Koontz' book, "Shadowfires".

I am still trying to figure out a better way to flip between books - I guess w/ the Sony, the bookmarks are the easiest.

The complete works of H.P Lovecraft (Downloaded from MR)

Felt like it was time to revisit with Mr. Lovecraft .... But god almighty was that man weird. One certainly wonders how his mind worked. Sometimes, it's even so one stops reading and thinks that this is not something anyone could imagine, it must be real!

Hello all,

Just now finished "The Hound of the Baskervilles"... I very much enjoyed this.

Now to my dilemma... what to read next? I was thinking I would read the free Jeffery Carver Sunborn books. I also want to try Steve Jordan's books and also Richard Hurley's books... but now I also want to read the full Sherlock Holmes Omnibus.

I've actually read 5 books this month... which is alot more than normal.

So many books, so little time. HELP!
