Not that scary. It would have been scarier, if he had typed it on Nokia e72 for example. Now that would be something...

yes indeed there is that!
![]() ok, my rant... I am the black sheep, the wilde childe, the bohemian gypsy, yada yada.... was Daddy's little girl and treated like total crap by my mother and 9 years younger sister. oh well. I have dealt with it all of my life. since this crisis, my sister who was planning on being here anyway moved her trip up by one day (she was driving from Nebraska, no biggie). she and her daughters have just mostly done hand holding. they are currently at an arts and crafts festival, (my sister teaches there) which was pre-planned, they'll be back Sunday. my daughter has been driving my Mom around and doing chores. neither one of them have any business acumen at all. they moved Dad into a facility on Monday. it costs 3400 a month. insurance doesn't cover it. that works out to around 41K a year I think. Dad keeps asking to come home. there is plenty of room to put up a hospital bed and make him comfortable. sure, Mom cannot care for him herself. she no longer drives, this means regardless of what happens, if Dad is in a facility, someone has to be here to drive her around. that same someone can be here to help her with Dad. she refuses to understand how hospice works and the amount of people that are available to come in and DO come in every day to assist with care. that you are never a "prisoner" in your home. I've been trying to tell her that she needs to meet with her broker, I've already gotten her accountant in to meet with her, and determine a cut off time as to when paying that extra money needs to stop. not to mention that Dad would be happier and much more comfortable at home. once they are on hospice care, no heroic measures are made. no IVs, no resusitation, just comfort. once again I am the bad guy because I ask the hard questions and make people think. and get treated like shit for my efforts. *end rant* |

KK, what a really tough position to be in. Hopefully, they'll see the sense of it in the end and make the right choice. Make sure you don't get too pushy with it though or you'll end up driving away from it just because you're irritating them with it.
Keep in mind too that some people, despite every well laid out thought and argument, will not see things the same way you do. If that's the case try to find out what their thoughts are and come at it that way. Did they move him into a facility in the hopes that it will extend things and he'll get better, if so maybe have the Dr talk to them. Do they not want to bring him home because of the burden on your mom? Show them how much other help will be available. Just my $.02 You...the black sheep!? No way ![]() |

Arrrrg KK what a difficult situation. I guess the harder question is what is the prognosis on your father. Hospice usually means "the end is near" but how near is a different question. In other words is this a short, medium or long-term situation or is it unknown? In any case the finances, insurance, support available all need to be weighed and decisions made to the benefit of those that will be involved on a day-to-day basis....

We had hospice help when my Dad was in the process of going to meet his Maker. For a good 3 months, they came, filled meds, bathed him, etc. We did have a relative join us to help in the day to day, and to support my mom. But he really liked being in his own house. Had a hospital bed set up in the den. Where we could all gather, and be with him. Yes -- add my vote for hospice!

So maybe I'm misunderstanding. I thought he was in a hospice facility already, but maybe I missed something. Sounds like what you are advocating is at-home hospice care, right?

From one black sheep to another:
In your heart and mind, you know the right answer. That is the only option. They just have to live with it. I have been put in that position once too often. Even if no one ever tells you "I'm sorry. You were right", if they never speak to you again, the price of the Pariah. Better to know in your heart, you did the right thing. A Bronze Star for your soul, KK. No one admits you earned it or deserved it. No one but you. And me. *BIG HUG* |

2 days to get 1 line of code working. Oh... Microsoft... your documentation on Silverlight is tres sucky!
Thank god for bloggers. Of course, there was alot of old info out there to. EVERY BLOG should have a farking date on each article. GOOGLE should rank stuff based on how old is it too. When I search for info newer info should be returned before some blog post from two years ago. BOb |

Look upon my otters and despair, for they are sleek and playful and thou shall not toucheth them, for they are mine and happy in the trousers of my discontent. For if it were not for my otters, my wallabies would overrun the bathtub and where would we be, if not sweaty and rank with mildew? Look not to my otters, but to the marsupials in thine own shorts be true. Fondle your marsupials freely when you are out in the world, they will rain good fortune upon you and not bite, though you walk in the valley of the shadow of Oprah's buttocks, for they are vast and untouched by the hands of man. Maple syrup pours like mucus from the nostrils of a toddler upon the platypus, and behold, it is sticky. Please don't blame VR, it's not his fault at all, for was it not happy_terd piddling in the hall? Mammaries, like the pair we left behind, hairy jiggling mammaries of Raymond Burr. Dive deeply into the mayo, for here there be hamsters wrapped in electrical tape for your pleasure, but the otters abide, fruitful and multiplying, for the math scores must rise every morning, to pour the coffee of choice into the chaos of boredom. May your bermuda shorts fill with the bounty of the otters, they are pleasing upon your short and curlies, if not for the slings and arrows of Moe and Larry. Shemp's in the closet sorting your socks, will you not enter unto the closet and fold the briefs which stick to the carpet of my mind? Thar she blows, the last star on the left. Full speed ahead and straight on till morning, the cottage cheese is lonely. Handle it gently, apply it liberally upon the loins of the afflicted, what would the flounder do if you refused? Squab. Jackals tear at my frontal lobes, still far from the widening crowd and vast are their waistbands. Yes. No. Only with people if they have bathed. Zip up after the last otter has returned unto you and slap the man at the door. He is far too smug for my liking and his mascara runs into his hairline. Beware the man with angry nostrils, he waits for you in the dreams of a child.
