Still very cold here. Forecast for the weekend is the same, sunny and cold, with a possibility of snow in the western suburbs. I'm in the east so no snow apparently. I'm getting ready to stay at home all weekend and enjoy the sun from inside.

Cold, but still dry. A beautiful sunset seems set to be followed by a frosty night, hopefully full of stars....

Hideous cold drizzly weekend!

Cold start today (33 F) to the week, but another warming trend on the way for the end of the week. Wacky February weather!

Plus 8°C right now, and -9°C coming on Wednesday morning. That's 46°F to 16°F, in about 36 hours. Oh, and no snow in sight.

But, on the bright side, six more weeks of winter from Groundhog Day is an early spring in Canada. Last frost (spring planting) is/was mid-May around Toronto.

Having lived in Toronto most of my life, I always wondered why 6 weeks was not considered an early spring.

Do you participate or just enjoy being a spectator? I've never been tempted to ice skate, because I know ice is hard, and it's much more difficult to control what happens during a fall. Plus, the cold makes the pain more intense. I'd rather fall on concrete than ice. Then again, at 61, I don't do much skating of any kind (except at work, if that counts

).
