This weekend we have a frontal boundary doing the cha-cha-cha over NC - it moved S to N last night bringing warm air & rain (highs in the 60's to 70 F today with thunderstorms), and will shift N to S tonight, with highs in the low 40's F tomorrow, and then shift S to N again tomorrow night, with highs in the 60's F on Monday, ..... etc., etc., etc.......

Today is the fifth day in a row that I have awakened to temperatures below -20 F. In fact at -28 F today was the coldest yet. It was clear and sunny when I left the house and on such days steam from the local papermill settles on surrounding trees producing very pretty 'crystal trees.' Unfortunately my photo does not do justice to what these look like in fact.
![]() It looks like we are about to get a break from the cold though. It is supposed to get no lower than 0 F tonight and then up to 29 F tomorrow. "We're having a heat wave, . . ." |

It's cooling down now, but it was 71 degrees earlier, balmy, breezy and just not what January should be even in Texas!

Our roller coaster weather continues.
Sunday: cold, windy, high of 40 F Monday: FOG, lots of fog, drizzle, high of 49 F Tuesday: supposed to climb back into the 60's F for the rest of the week, maybe. [Yesterday afternoon I looked out of the window and thought my eyes were exhausted - everything was blurry. Turns out, since we had no sun shine at all, the morning fog never left, and instead built back in during the afternoon. I drove home at 5 pm in fairly dense fog!] |

HOT HOT HOT Sorry for shouting but it's really hot, has been for days and no relief in sight. Perth is going for a new record of 4 days over 40C and we are not far behind. When it does cool down it will probably be to 36C. Did I say I hate summer?

OK - our insane weather is now shooting back up into the unnaturally warm (for January) temps (highs in the 60's F) with rain. We've changed back to A/C at work!

Unnaturally warm here too. Which means stuffy inside as the heating systems both at work and at home don't know how to cope with mild weather. In fact, I'm working in an open space room with more people and computers than it was initially supposed to contain, and it's overheated even when it's cold outside. Right now, it's humid and drizzling rain outside, and it feels like a hammam inside.

And naturally hot here! But at least the night time temperatures have dropped so the house gets a chance to cool down and I can sleep without having to have the air conditioner running all night. It's amazing how quickly the garden bounces back after being deep fried only a few days ago. And already the rosellas (parrots) are back into my fruit trees!

Unreal! I took my after dinner walk without a coat or jacket! Temps still in the 60's F!

OK - now the weather is totally unreal. 61 F and torrential rain at 6:30 am - in January! In the northern hemisphere!
Did the southern USA slip down next to Oz without my noticing it? ![]() |

If we're in Oz, I should go try and find Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth. They could at least sing to us while we ride the rollercoaster. |
