People wonder why I still read a lot of paper books. It's because the concept of subjecting an e-reader to a couple of extreme freeze-thaw cycles every day for a few months of the year doesn't sound like a recipe for long-term technology survival.

Mmm...-29C this morning. Not much wind. I'm thankful for that. Forecast says the wind will pick up for tomorrow morning a little. Might see a -40C windchill tomorrow morning. I can only hope.

Take a look at the 14-day trend for my city. You know the weather is crazy when you can mess up the graphing with the wild temperature fluctuations. 14 day trend

Snow! Snow, snow snow, beautiful snow!

A few birds have found refuge in a tiny hole in my wall that's a popular nesting spot year after year. The past couple days I've listened to them contentedly chortling away from time to time as they settle. They've scored it big with the warm, cozy protection the hidaway offers and I think they know it, too.

-28C. -41C with the windchill. It snowed the texture of blowing clay soil yesterday. It not only crunches underfoot, it squeaks. My e-reader remains cozy in the bedside table drawer.

Wow. That's -17 or so in Farenheit even (which is what I think in). I'll remember you when I think we get cold in Chicago. I won't wear my shorts, but I'll try not to think we've got it so bad!
