Ten titles in Ed McBain's 87th Precinct series are part of the US Kindle Daily Deal today at $1.99. However, when I created a search for "Ed McBain priced $0 to $2", it actually pulled up 30 titles in the series. I'm in a hurry, and don't have time to figure out which of these are recent price drops vs long term pricing (if any), or even list all of the titles or their blurbs, but if you are interested, just take a look:

link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/search/?se...in&price=0-200

Big chunks of Ed McBain's books tend to go on sale from time to time (at Kindle US at least), so check carefully before buying!

Journey to Munich is the latest title in the Maisie Dobbs series by Jacqueline Winspear. It is a US Kindle Daily Deal today at $3.99. I'm usually complaining about $3.99 being my upper limit (and really even a bit high IMO) for backlist. OTOH, $3.99 for a 2016 title in a well established traditionally published series is a pretty good deal, again IMO

In any case...

link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0105TIXJA

Spoiler:
Quote:
Working with the British Secret Service on an undercover mission, Maisie Dobbs is sent to Hitler’s Germany in this thrilling tale of danger and intrigue—the twelfth novel in Jacqueline Winspear’s New York Times bestselling “series that seems to get better with each entry” (Wall Street Journal).

It’s early 1938, and Maisie Dobbs is back in England. On a fine yet chilly morning, as she walks towards Fitzroy Square—a place of many memories—she is intercepted by Brian Huntley and Robert MacFarlane of the Secret Service. The German government has agreed to release a British subject from prison, but only if he is handed over to a family member. Because the man’s wife is bedridden and his daughter has been killed in an accident, the Secret Service wants Maisie—who bears a striking resemblance to the daughter—to retrieve the man from Dachau, on the outskirts of Munich.

The British government is not alone in its interest in Maisie’s travel plans. Her nemesis—the man she holds responsible for her husband’s death—has learned of her journey, and is also desperate for her help.

Traveling into the heart of Nazi Germany, Maisie encounters unexpected dangers—and finds herself questioning whether it’s time to return to the work she loved. But the Secret Service may have other ideas. . . .

BTW, if you are wiling to travel, a bunch of earlier Maisie Dobbs titles are still really inexpensive at Kobo India. See this previous post: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho....php?p=3286449

Blotto, Twinks and the Heir to the Tsar is the latest (2015) in the hilarious and sort of Wodehousian (IMO) Blotto & Twinks series by Simon Brett. It has dropped to $5.99 at Kindle US - not an awesome sale price, but pretty good for a traditionally published most-recent-in-series title. I'm buying it!

link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TE8KA68

Spoiler:
Quote:
Tawcester Towers, the family seat of the Lyminster family, has suffered an unwelcome injection of distant cousins, so distant that they aren't even British! Count Igor and Count Lyudmilla Bashusky had to flee Russia after the Revolution and have spent the intervening years building up debts in the hotels of Europe's capitals and sponging off ever more exasperated (and distant) relatives.

The Bashusky's arrival at Tawcester Towers causes a stir, and it's up to Blotto and Twinks, that indefatigable duo, to provide a solution to get them back to Russia. Reversing the Russian Revolution and getting a Tsar back into St Petersburg's Winter Palace is just the sort of challenge the fiercely bright Twinks relishes, though her dim-witted brother Blotto shows less aptitude for the subtleties of international politics, despite his commendable bravery.

The siblings soon find themselves in Berlin to try and broker a meeting with the White Russian community, and swiftly become embroiled in a world of spies, counterspies, conspiracies and counter-conspiracies. Just when things seem to be looking up, little do Blotto and Twinks realise that their plans are being monitored by the spymaster Fyodor Vlachko, a former worker on the Bushusky's estate who has now risen to a senior post in the secret police of the newly-formed Soviet Union . . .

These are highly regarded books by this convicted killer.

I have yet to read anything by her, so I think I'll get the first one in the series.

Thank you!

ADDED: I love covers that follow a uniform design concept, as do these.

OK - I just bought the first 3 in the series, since I enjoy novels placed in Victorian England.

I've got you beat, I bought all six books on sale. They sound pretty good, and I really enjoy the Victorian England settings as well.

Great! I wonder how much longer that sale lasts.

Any idea?

No idea how why or how long from my end. Often Open Road is just one day, although sometimes longer.

I have read all of these from one of the libraries I belong to, but was glad to get the chance to pick them up to keep for a good price. I already had the first one, which goes on sale pretty often, but bought the other five. I haven't made it all the way through the series, but have enjoyed the ones I have read.

Presumably as part of Sourcebooks annual-ish Georgette Heyer birthday sale, most or all of Heyer's mysteries are on sale for less than $3 right now at Amazon US.

The Amazon prices seem to be no longer sale prices. The first book is part of the Unlimited Library, and thus probably available to Prime Borrow. I'm perusing the sample and might borrow it next month (tho I should have done this DURING the sale, not after it!)

Discount on Heyer books is from Sourcebooks, until the 28th, according to what I heard.
