Taken by Benedict Jacka (An Alex Verus Novel Book 3) is currently $1.99 in the US

The first book in the series was discounted some time ago and the books have been compared to Jim Butchers Dresden Files by a number of people. While I preferred the Dresden files I liked these well enough and would recommend them to those who like these kind of books, although it's probably better to start at the beginning.

Karen Lord's The Best of All Possible Worlds is $1.99 at Amazon US and Kobo at the moment.

I've read this and liked it well enough to imagine I might read it again someday. The description below is basically accurate, but possibly overemphasizes the romance angle - it's an important thread in the story, but not the only one, and if you picked up this book thinking it's an SF romance you might be disappointed.
