More efficient use of space. You get a french door design on the top, so double the width in the fridge over a side by side unit. The bottom drawer/door for the freezer has more room than either a traditional unit with the freezer on top, or with a side by side design. I'd love one myself if we had the room and/or the money to replace our current (very old) fridge.
