I agree. I don't do it often, but when I do it's annoying to have it count pages unnecessarily.

Well, here's a new one on me. I was unable to update a story from AO3. The link is:

Calibre asks me to log in (see attached screen capture). No matter how many times I do, I can't download. What's interesting is that story itself has a lock in front of its name (see the second screen capture). None of the others that I follow do. In the personal ini for the plugin, I do have my login information entered:

use_archive_transformativeworks_org:true

Any suggestions? The really annoying part is that I can read the story online and using AO3's show entire story option, I can download the updated story.

The lock icon indicates a story that is restricted to logged in users.

And as mentioned before, login doesn't work with use_archive_transformativeworks_org:true -- because login doesn't work on archive.transformativeworks.org.

Download AO3's epub, or use BrowserCache for that one would be my suggestions.

Thanks ... I must have missed that. My apologies. It seems I must enter the log in for every chapter ... so download from AO3 it is.

BrowserCache -- when you are already logged in to AO3 -- works fine for me with that story.

Troubleshooting tip:
If you're getting a "NoneType' object is not subscriptable" error on storiesonline.net, go to a browser, log out, and log back in. If you see a reminder to renew message when you login, that's very likely what's gumming up the plugin. Either renew, or lower/disable the renewal reminder threshold in account settings.

Just dropping this for future users (or myself if I forget). Took me far longer than I'd like to admit to troubleshoot this one...

Updated to 4.44, getting 'totp' errors on Spacebattles and SuffientVelocity when attempting to update.

How do I configure or turn off Timed One Time Password(TOTP) for these sites?

Do you have Two Factor Auth enabled on your SB/SV accounts?

You should only get that if you do and the story requires login or you have always_login:true.

Can you get a debug log? Restart Calibre in debug mode (Calibre Preferences dropdown) before trying again.

Debug Log attached.

Note I may have jumped the gun. It all worked in debug mode and normal mode. Only thing I can think of is I didn’t restart after updating. Apologies for wasting your time.

I don't have an unrar utility handy. OTOH, if it worked, then the debug log isn't going to tell me anything.

If I uncheck 'mark updated books,' the 'show marked books' remains active, doesn't do anything though. Supposed to grey out?

Also getting issues updating one of the stories on SpaceBattles with the latest chapter. It says the fic doesn't need to be updated and the only thing listed in the log in the comment columns is 'Time Period'. The fic is this one:

Edit: I am also unable to force an update, overwrite the fic, or even download it as a new book, so there is probably something making the parser fail on this story.

That story has a tag type (Time Period) that FFF didn't expect. Either I've not seen it before, or it didn't exist at the time.

I'll add both a new site specific entry for that, and better code for handling unexpected tag types.
