BC Libraries now at 8357, yay.
Seems to be quite a few travel guides, cookbooks, and nonfiction in this update, and some Stephen King.

I'm sooo jealous of Seattle's holdings, though.

We've been at it a while, so have built up a large collection. I suspect the acquisitions folks have taken to paying for 1 Overdrive copy of a book, instead of an extra hardcover (it's rare that we have more than 1 copy of an e-book). I think we're also skewed away from Kindles (seen as low tech?); I see more nooks and Sonys around town, so a greater Epub-eligible patron base.

Updated the list. There were several changes in the rankings but no one comes close to our leader Cleveland.

And what is happening in Calgary? They now have more titles than British Columbia and the most in all Canada!*

* I am unable to check Quebec's Provincial Library or Montreal's collection as their websites appear to be in French only. If someone can look for me, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

If by Quebec Provincial Library you mean the Bibliothèque et Archives Nationales du Québec and the Montreal collection at the Bibliomontreal site, they don't exactly keep their own e-books online (barring the project to digitize Quebec-related stuff), but instead link to other sites offering e-books.

The Overdrive collections for Quebec seem to be at McGill for that library, and via eMedia for some smaller ones.

Looks like Pierce County will make the list when I update next month.

Thanks for posting.

Updated the list today.

Pierce County Washington debuted at #10 with 9080 titles.

Salt Lake's numbers jumped. So did King County.

Sadly, a few halted. Again DC added no titles.

I wonder why DC Library has stopped adding eBooks? I'm going to have to call them and ask. I'll do so later today or tomorrow. I keep meaning to call, but keep getting involved in other things.

Seattle seems to be a monthly load, so after January's additions, we're at 20,621 - not likely to change for at least 3 weeks.

Dallas Public library is sort of new to the whole Overdrive thing, I know they didn't have it when I checked a year ago, but I suppose they've since joined, but is starting small. They only have epub and pdf ebooks.

Epub- 1414
PDF- 679

I have to admit that I was a bit jelous when I saw the numbers from Cleveland's Library, but then I went to their web site and browsed their collection. No offence to anyone, but the last 100 purchases were Romance. I then checked the most popular, and all 25 most populare were Romance or Twilight books...hmm. Just thought I would throw that out so us with smaller libraries would not get envious, its not about size, but content....for me at least.

After going through our last addition of 600 titles, there were a dozen, at most, that interested me -- the acquisitions folks must've been getting complaints of "too much non-fiction" because these were almost entirely mainstream fiction, little kids' books (presumably for parents to read aloud), poetry, etc.

I hope its OK to post here for UK readers/users?

UK libraries are slowly coming on-line (at last), and here are a list of the current collections and addresses for those that I know of.

I've only listed ebooks, and not the audio-books.

Manchester UK http://manchesterdownload.lib.overdrive.com/
Ebooks
Fiction 967
Non-fiction 600

London libraries consortium http://llc.lib.overdrive.com/
Ebooks
Fiction 926
Non-fiction 503

Essex http://essex.bookaisle.com/
Ebooks
Fiction 485
Non-fiction 342

Liverpool http://liverpool.lib.overdrive.com/
Ebooks
Fiction 623
Non-fiction 209

York http://yorklibraries.lib.overdrive.com/
Ebooks
Fiction 138
Non-fiction 42

Surrey http://surreycc.lib.overdrive.com
Ebooks
Fiction 264
Non-fiction 185

I can't speak for Scotland Wales or Northern Ireland, but here are a few of the ones I'm using and a list of their joining requirements;

Liverpool - allow you to join on-line. States that they will send membership card to you in the post, but you then have to call into any Liverpool branch to have card authorised.

London - allow you to join on-line, but you have to collect your library card from a London library. Proof of UK ID required at time of Pick-up.

Manchester - allow you to join on-line but you have to collect your library card from a Manchester library. Utility letter required to prove your address (anywhere in the UK allowed)

Surrey - allow you to join on-line as an elibrary member, will email you a virtual library card. Anyone in the UK can join.

Essex - allow you to join on-line. Emails you a membership number immediately upon application. Anyone in the UK can join.
