I answered 'never': there's 3 or 4 authors I like so much I'd buy a story by them in chunks, unfinished, but none of them has ever shown any signs of doing so.

Short stories are a different matter - I'm quite keen on them.

Are serialized books the ones stories that end in a cliffhanger, or are they like the Harry Potter series, stories all by themselves, but they do continue into another book until the end?

The former.

Weekly or monthly magazine serialisation was the normal way of publishing novels in the latter half of the 19th century. It's the way that all Dickens' novels were originally published.
