Ditto. Only one minor glitch. Didn't connect initially in step 2. Hit the menu button, which took me to the history download. Hit the connect button & wireless worked the 2nd time. Everything else smooth.

You should be able to turn sound off in settings.

Well, maybe a set of Bose noise cancelling headphones then...

I plugged my earphones and the sound was gone. So while it gets fixed you can always plug a jack in if the sound is unbearable.

After reading about your sound issues, I set sound to off in preferences before the update, and my Iliad is mute afterwards. (I can't turn it on tho, but that's okay)

Well, I've been playing with my 2.5 updated unit.

Text is now "readable" (for certain values of "readable"). The icon on the file list still shows "unknown", but when you select the file, something appears. In my case, it's a Project Gutenberg text file and I've made the lines break on paragraphs.

The iLiad doesn't wrap the lines, so they go off the right hand side of the screen. The point size is fairly small, but readable, and the "Font size" icons appear on the iLiad and they work.

I really like the status bars on file load. It was rather frustrating in the 2.4 version since I had no idea if something was happening after trying to load a document. I also like that the documents now load much faster.

But the find feature in xpdf is now gone. I used to be able to bring up a keyboard, press control-F and get a find box. That no longer works and is a necessary feature if you are going to put reference works on the iLiad.

Another "gotcha" is that you need to make sure that the expansion cards are NOT in the slots when you fire it up or it will never see the cards (at least that has been my experience). If I shutdown the unit, pull the cards out, fire it back up, then put the cards back in, it sees them.

I also don't like that it automatically creates a copy of a picture if you only view it (as opposed to view and edit).

I meant so. It is strange it takes so much time and it does not use it for pageturning. Perhaps it is due to font creation.

Are you sure? My one has 5.5 hours from fully charged to automatic shutdown, with just about 2 hours of active reading in it. The remaining time I just left the device on the table, not doing anything with it.

With 2.4, I had 4.5 hours. So this is far far far away from "greatly increased battery time".

Do other people also have "a factor of 3 to 4" (meaning 13-18 hours)? In that case I'd be a candidate for support...

Wasn't the great thing of e-ink that the device doesn't need any power when not flipping pages? Or is this something that still needs to be sorted?

It needs power if there are processing running in the background.

The display doesn't need power outside of pageturns.
