just use the multi quote, it is the button to the right of the quote button. select it every time you want to bring down something you want to talk to/answer, etc. took me forever to find it and I had to ask for help.

don't let that snide remark stop you, I got a lot from reading you

There is economics and there is political economics. I can't stand when the few hold the many hostage. I don't think my freedom should be curtailed in the form of regulations and taxes so that everyone is "equal"--equally stupid and in squalor that is.

It isn't my problem if someone else can't see. If I want to give to charity (which I do) or help out the disabled (which I do)...that should be of my own free will....not mandated through a fascist state.

You might want to learn something about Fascism before you start calling names. Taking care of the disabled was not one Fascism's goals.

Enabling the handicapped to be productive *helps* the economy. It's a fact so obvious that I'm rather alarmed that you can't see it.

But it doesn't seem that you see very much. I know blind people with more vision.

Please would members stick to the original topic - kindles in universities - and refrain from discussion of political ideologies. It is unlikely that the latter would be either polite or illuminating.

Our posting Guidelines are here:
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/faq...ing_guidelines
(or click on "Guidelines on the blue bar att he very bottom of all forum pages.)

Please note the guideline on political discussion:

Quote:
Past experience has shown that threads debating religious or political matters are unlikely to be edifying, and often become bad-tempered. Our mission is to support the mobile reading community. There are other sites which focus on contemporary political and religious discussions, so we strongly recommend that you debate these topics elsewhere.

MobileRead reserves the right to edit or delete posts about politics and religion, where these are unrelated to mobile reading.

If you read markbots post you should notice that he helps and contributes to disabled people and I assume therefore advocates this activity. He just seems to be opposed to the forced coercion of unwilling people to these activities.

Um ... you're responding to a post three months old.

But since we're here ... how exactly are ebooks less blind-friendly than pbooks?

The problem was that with the Kindle 2, the text-to-speech ability did not include the menu options. So, they couldn't navigate the device.

This was fixed with the Kindle 3. They also added larger fonts, for those with impaired vision.

If you are teaching a class, you're required by law to provide course materials that can be accessed by the disabled (e.g. braille books). The lawsuit claimed that the instant delivery and other ebook advantages were not available to the disabled, and thus the pilot program violated the relevant laws.

I wondered why I was being dissed for something I wrote over a year ago, and by someone who obviously did not read the whole thread.

I'm glad Kindle fixed the problem. Even if caring about the disabled makes them 'fascist.'

Hah.
