Wow that's rough. I remember getting the contents of my desk emptied out a window once a month in kindergarten to get me to tidy it up... but no writing in books, ever.. unless it was exercise books of course

First rule is the book is MINE or my assigned task(dissapearing with soft documents).

I make notes in Manuals and Textbooks that are errata corrections or to clarify the section further than provided.
I would never mark in a Public Library book or one borrowed.

TMI!

In regards to the topic at hand, I hate writing in books. Even an accidental blot of ink bothers me.

Nope, nope, never!
Not even in Uni - I would make copies or handwrite bits out, or use coloured paperclips and post-its and stuff. I used to cringe every time my classmates highlighted and scribbled away at their textbooks.
On the other hand I am partial to a well-thumbed, softened paper book which inevitably happens when you've read it loads and carried it around a bit - unfortunately it then becomes a precarious balance to ensure it doesn't continue to soften to the point where it falls apart.
I once lent a book and the guy had dropped it in the bath and spilt coffee on it. He told me before I returned it and couldn't understand my absolute horror when I realised he wasn't joking. I don't think I ever spoke to him again.

Do like the idea of an ebook reader where I can mark the bits I like or make corrections, if/when I upgrade it will definitely be a consideration.

I was just wondering if the e-reader has a notetaking feature is it possible to delete the notes? Preferbly without using tipex

in the case of the sony 700 in any case, you have the option of either hiding the notes or you can erase them individually with the eraser function. you can also erase all the notes at once by going into the "notes" display and using the option menu. no tippex necessary.

I don't know, maybe you better ask Slite about that one. How's your head feeling these days, Slite?

I have mixed feelings on this one...

No because I hated when my father read his books and gave them to me to read... all underline, highlighted, notes on the side... arggghhhhh....

Not everyone finds the same phrases as bits of enlightment when reading a book... you see it through a different lense...

and Yes because after saying all of the above, I take that old book from my father and read what was important to him and read his comments and it brings me closer to understanding his way of thinking and his history...

Anyway... my books, I don't write on them... so my son is screwed from understanding his dad, lol

There ain't no steeeeenking rules when it comes to my books. Furthermore, I believe in a great saying which I saw in a fortune cookie once: "Learn the rules and break some of them."

An old girlfriend told me that when you read a fortune cookie you are supposed to tack on the words "in bed" to the end. Naturally, I just did this to your fortune cookie.
