Actually, I like EDDD. It's an acronym that works. Now I think I'll go grab ed and get some reading done.

I like to think of it as an asymptote: we'll get closer and closer without actually doing exactly what we want. To tell the truth, I see many goals that technology strives to reach as asymptotes, and more often than not these goals have been set by sci-fi literature.

Why not continue the nomen est omen thing mp3 players started and name it PDF Shower* or ePub Displayer?

* Based on the verb to show, not on the water sprinkling device.

You can grab Ed or you can read, but you can't do both. Unless you can concentrate a lot better than most folks!

Someday when the technology is advanced enough, they'll control everything. Then we can call them Highly Advanced Liseuses.
HAL, there was already a highly advanced computer by that name, I believe.

It is: the "original" Zeno would have been right, had he applied his philosphy to human evolution and knowledge fields instead of physics

As I'm sitting here looking at my Sony 700 and thinking about the new 600, I realized that the thing actually has a name! "Portable Reading System" or PRS. That works for me!!

I'm ashamed to say it, but up until today I never looked or was that interested in what PRS stood for. I couldn't believe it actually meant what it meant Seems like as good a name as any to me. A PRS, that fits all the devices easily enough.

I know! Right!?!? I know I've looked at the words, they just didn't click in my head.

Take a look at the comment from Sony at the end of this article:

http://gigaom.com/2009/08/04/sony-la...one-will-want/

They actually call their device an "eReader". Just saying

Why, can't you pronounce a dash (or hyphen, never got the difference clear)? "edashreader"

I've actually had to look this up in the Chicago Manual of Style. E-mail, E-reader, E-publishing. And yes, the E is always capitalized.
