Test with clean Mac OS X installation
After i restored my system from backup yesterday afternoon, i have made a clean 10.6 installation on a external drive.
calibre-0.6.10-x86_64_first FROM 09-03-2009, 08-40 PM Seems to run perfect nativly (no rosetta switch exists). Inserting, deleting books, can connected from iPhone stanza, more tests on 0.6.11 later calibre-0.6.10-x86_64_QT45 FROM 09-03-2009, 03-41 PM Crashes often with crashlog, as described above! calibre-0.6.10-x86_64_QT46 FROM 09-04-2009, 12-02 PM Terminates immediately without crashlog, as described above! calibre-0.6.11 NORMALY BUILD Seems to run perfect nativly (no rosetta needed). Inserting, deleting books, can connected from iPhone stanza, more tests later calibre-0.6.10 NORMALY BUILD Seems to run perfect nativly (no rosetta needed). Inserting, deleting books, can connected from iPhone stanza, more tests later on 0.6.11 Seems to be an incompatible part from 10.5 after updating? Now i can understand the different results anyone had! Hopefully Apple will fix this issue! Last edited by dieterf; 09-05-2009 at 04:16 AM. |

Clean install does not work for me. Rosetta still does.

You can do a clean install of SL? Can that be done with just the "upgrade" that I bought for $25?

Sure ... SL DVD can make clean install (Boot from DVD, choose Disk Utility, Format, continue installing) or Upgrade only from 10.5.x ... There is no Option in installer, but no problem! At the end you can copy you Data from Backup or other Disk using the Migration Assistent.

- I have got my home from 10.5 using Migration Assistent. I can launch calibre.
- After that, i have delete my calibre-Presserences (plist and folder) ... no change to lauch calibre nativly - After restoring calibre-Preferences from 10.5 backup, calibre can be launched and runs - Have running 0.6.11 nativly for some hours, then calibre crashes, after this i have tried to launch calibre again for 10 times, always crashes. I launch calibre using rosetta, which works, after this calibre now runs nativly again. Very very mysterious! |

Calibre is crashing near constantly for me in 10.6. Seems like using roseta helps.

Crashes less frequently with Rosetta, but does still happen. It's still usable with patience.

I have a clean install of Snow Leopard (upgrade disk only. Brand new HD due to old HD death.) and Calibre crashes out right off as described earlier in this thread. So clean OS install isn't always the solution.

Calibre 6.10 is working for me almost 100% using Rosetta with Snow Leopard. I just batch converted ten books from txt and lit to mobi without a crash. I'm actually afraid to upgrade Calibre to 6.11 thinking that may break something fragile!
