I would like to enter the giveaway.

I would like to win because then:

I'd always be able to say to others interested in my reader that I won it right here at MobileRead.
I don't have my prs-505 reader anymore and am still reading on the tiny screen of the blackberry.
I've never won anything in my life.

Although I call myself a writer, you could just as easily say I'm a professional reader. I have over 3,000 ebooks (counting my own personal documents in multiple drafts.)

After 10 years of rejection letters, I got my first novella and a novel accepted by 2 different publishers. My family didn't get too excited for me, so it would be nice to have this juicy prize fall into my lap. (Thank you universe!)

Also, since my right hand is paralyzed, I really have a time just holding a regular book and turning the pages. Ebooks make that easy. And I love gadgets!

What fun. How do I love my ebook? Let me count the ways...

I DO deserve an ebook reader, I do, I do. (And I believe in fairies, too.)

I am entering this contest because I would like to win a Sony PRS-700.

By having the new Sony, I could use my current Sony PRS-505 like Johnny Appleseed used his seeds. I would use my PRS-505 with different kinds of stories, and newspaper feeds to spread the love of reading to others.

For example, I currently use my ebook reader to keep my son interested in reading. Whenever he sees me reading my PRS 505, many times I will simply hand it to him so that he can see what I am doing. There are also times such as when I was reading "The Iliad" when I would begin reading out loud to him and discuss with him the story as well as Greek mythology and philosophy in general.

How easy will it be to simply hand the PRS-505 over to the interested kid and say, "You like reading? How about I lend you my ebook and you can keep reading. Then when I pick up the ebook, we can discuss what you read."

It is my hope that I will continue to spread the benefit of reading while also interacting with children and discussing with them all of the wonderful things to be discovered in books.

Help me spread the seeds of the joys of reading.

I want to enter.

If I do win, I'm going to give the Kindle 2 to my Dad. He's been saving for one ever since he's seen my Kindle 1 but his business has been doing poorly. He is stuck on the other side of the state away from my mother and lives in a fifth wheel trailer by himself. If I could get him a Kindle and tie it to my account (so he could access the books I have), I think that could really alleviate some of his stress from work and give him something to do besides watching TV or playing guitar or riding his motorcycle.

I am also entering the giveaway contest.

Why pick me?

Because I intend to support Marc_liest after his tragic loss (his Sony Reader was stolen together with his laptop and the bag containing both) with a reader of his choice.

I want to be in this giveway, I want it I want the Sony PRS-700 willingly!!

Why should I be the one to win this giveway? How much time you got???

It was a cold day approx. 3 years ago, I believe it was in September as leaves lightly covered the asphalt outside my apartment and drizzle gently beat against my window sill. I was doing my daily browsing of gadget sites (either Engadet or Gizmodo I forget which) when I stumbled onto a new device that I had never seen nor heard of before yet it seemed revolutionary to me...Sony was releasing an eReader device? "What is an eReader and what the h*ll is eInk?", I thought.

Now at this time I probably averaged about 3-4 books a year, I found carrying books to be annoying and bothersome. I take the train to work and you could imagine trying to time your hand leaving the bar to turn your page before the train jolts sideways and you crash into a woman who will ever so politely be ready to mace you (New Yorkers don't liked to be touched on trains). But this this gadget, this eReader as they described, it was something amazing. You mean I could turn pages and read a book with one hand, hold 100s no scratch that THOUSANDS of books on one device and have it with me all the time, wait a minute the battery would last for a month!!

4 hours later after my dog licked my face to revive me from my fainting spell, I picked myself up and knew I had a mission. I had to know where I could get this device, alas it was not out yet and the technology was not yet tested to know if it would truly work the way I hoped. So I waited and waited and waited, the device was released, Sony PRS-500, got pretty good early reviews. I knew I needed one but I held off, $350 is a pretty big investment in a device especially if you don't read a lot so I had to really think about it. Fortunately and maybe unfortunately in some other device cases (My broken Archos 605 Wifi video player with that harddrive that failed 6 months in, I'm looking at you! Don't turn like you don't see me) I'm a gadget nut and I couldnt get it out of my head so in December as a present to myself I purchased a Sony Reader. There are times in a persons life that they will remember forever and that forever change their lives, getting your driver's license, your college graduation date, the birth of your first child, the death of a close family member and now the purchase of a Sony Reader...

Fast forward a year and 70+ books later, I was an addict. I was constantly seen with my reader and people at work laughed that eReaders would never take off because people don't read. I was a convert, I knew that if people got their hands on this device they would be compelled to read, the device was just that beautiful like 'Blue Steel'. But now I had a new problem, I ran through all of the novel books that I could get my hands on but now I had PDF docs for work and technical books that I needed to read as well which didn't quite cut it on the PRS-500. "Why doesn't anyone make a larger eInk reader? It doesn't make any sense that all readers are 6", I thought. Upon searching in google for larger ebook readers I came across a site that once again changed my life, MobileRead. Here was a site that contained all the information that I was looking for in one place, what new devices were coming out, how much they would cost, reviews from people that knew what they were talking about (unlike NY Times or other sources that thought the devices should have "Video" ugh ). In the annals of MobileRead I found the second device that would alter my reality which was the Irex Iliad.

Now I won't bore you chronicling the details of my love-hate relationship with my Iliad but it is safe to say that the Iliad is the closest that I've come to Objectum Sexual with a device. I feel like an old married couple with it, it doesn't do everything you want it to but its there when you really need it and that's what's important. We've been through hundreds of docs now. Unfortunately the device has been somewhat abandoned by its creators like a freckled baby and there are new formats like ePub and Adobe DE that will not work on either my Iliad nor my Sony 500. There must be a better way...there is and it is this giveway. I need that new jolt in my life, a new fix so to say like Amy Winehouse 3 months out of rehab. Where is the excitement? Its with the Sony PRS-700.

My Sony PRS-500 is like the quiet librarian with her hair in a bun and her wire framed glasses hanging mid-way down her nose. The Sony PRS-700 on the other hand is that same librarian letting her hair flow down her back, her glasses float off and she knows its time to party. Now Lets Party See you in the PRS-700 forums!!

I want to win! Mostly because I just found this forum during my endless debate about whether or not to get an ereader, and I've become convinced that I have to have one based on all the great posts that I've read for far.

Thanks for a great forum and a fun giveaway!

I would like to be entered into the contest.

I should win because:
1. I don't own a reader.
2. I have been layed off due to illness and lack of work since February and therefore have no spare funds with which to buy a reader.
3. I live in Canada, Eh!!!
4. I am new but try to keep active in the forums from News to the Lounge and back again.

Thanks for the consideration.

If I could I would like to try the Readius for the folding screen, but it is only vaporware right now. I like what I have seen of the interface/controls of the COOL-ER, but that won't be available until the end of the year.

So please send me a 505 instead, so my wife will quit stealing mine.

I would like to enter the giveaway too. Probably being the first dutchman and for sure the first from the province Zeeland being known for being very 'efficient' or some say greedy but I'm not. I'll give my Palm T5 to my mother in law who happens to have a bigger library then I have.

So lets see what happens at the Calibre forum.

Greetings,

Joop

I'm in for a Kindle 2.

I must have it! I think the kindle2 is 10x better than the kindle 1, and the kindle family is alot stronger than my sony. unfortunately the K2 didn't exist when my 700 came out, and although I liked the k1, it was a beast.

plust if I get a kindle 2, some lucky member of my family will get my lightly used 700. how can you deny them that?
