However, the sales of Sonys, iLiads, Kindles and Hanlin V3 family are easily larger (combined) than those of the EB-600 family. And now we've got Samsung tossing into the mix. So, yes, you have much to learn about OS and hardware incompatibility. I realize that Bookeen wants hardware sales, but it is unrealistic to assume that those who've bought EB-600 devices *won't* choose to 'jump ship' from their more-limited firmware to Bookeen's ePub firmware. Which is why I've stated several times that it would behoove Bookeen to deliberately target that section of the ereader market with a standalone SD-based firmware they could sell to just those owners. Remember, Bookeen's already taken the time to develope the firmware, why NOT gain income from the owners of Cool-ers, EB-600s and eSlicks??? The firmware's out there, so getting 'aftermarket' sales of LiveSD versions of it to those who're probably not going to shell out for the Bookeen hardware simply makes sense. Derek |

Ok, so we misunderstand themself, you speak about a SD card that bookeen will make for the EB600 clone NOT the Cybook Gen3, even if I doubt that Bookeen will do this one day. But in this case ok, there should be no real issue about this.

Opus: frustration with support
May 3-June 4, 2010
My Opus arrived with a software glitch: when disconnected from the USB drive, the screen froze and would not respond to a "soft" reset by holding down the power and back buttons for 10 seconds. So that meant removing the battery cover and doing a "hard" reset (paperclip) each time the Opus was disconnected from the computer. Bookeen support responded once to ask for my s/n & boo version. After that, no response. The website has a firmware download link but it has been shut down since early May through today. Although I like the Opus, I returned it because of the poor support from Bookeen. |

Sorry to note your 'bad' experience, they've always been 'good' for me (though occasionally tardy with responses).

Bookeen support once manage to stun me with their fastness.
But they seams to be a bit overflowed right now, sent them a mail last Friday, I'm still waiting for answers. |

I don't know why, but you seems to not be impartial. PocketBook have one major difference from Bookeen: Market share.
But I can reverse your question: Do you work for PocketBook? |

That's an opinion, I'm afraid. I've had an Opus and an PB360, and I've sold the PB360. I prefer the Opus much more. So, as you see, it's a matter of personal likes.

So the question is: Why has PocketBook "market share", as you say, and Bookeen not? Is it just the money? The products? Better customer service? Better marketing? Better business planning? The community?
Reaching market share is usually a result of an excellent entrepreneurship but it's not primarily the reason for good customer services. Good customer service (among many other things) can be a reason for a growing market share though. Anyway, i think Bookeen's customer service is not that bad at all...but it's still far from perfect. |
